Away Bed and Breakfast is situated on the tranquil shores of East Lake in the village of Cherry Valley. This unique Prince Edward County retreat has been creatively renovated by its owners, Susan and Glen Wallis to accommodate guests who want to get “away” from it all. With a décor of elegant simplicity, the spacious guest rooms have well-appointed private ba

ths and stunning views of East Lake and the B&B’s gardens. Guests are encouraged to linger on the expansive marble terrace or wander through the gardens to the patio by the lake where they may catch sight of a swan gliding by or take time to read a book or magazine. Mornings are a “field to fork” affair with Glen cooking up scrumptious breakfasts using only fresh ingredients from the Away gardens, local farms, bakeries and jam makers before guests depart to explore the charm of Prince Edward County. Wineries, farm markets, shops, and art galleries, including Susan’s Melt studio, are nearby attractions. Away is a mere 10 minutes from the beautiful beaches of Sandbanks Provincial Park, 12 minutes to the shopping village of Bloomfield and less than 10 minutes to restaurants, shops and the heritage Regent Theatre in the town of Picton. While there is free WI-FI for those who have a need to stay connected, the serenity of Away is unbroken by televisions in guest rooms or the common areas. Away is the perfect destination for those who want to spend time in a gentle environment, exploring the countryside at their leisure. Away offers the most beautiful sunsets in Prince Edward County at no extra charge. Away is not suitable for children, however, exceptions can be made for families and friends travelling together when booking all 3 bedrooms. Oscar, the friendly Bassett Hound, supervises the property. Arrangements for guests’ pets can be made at an excellent pet boarding facility within a five minute drive.

It has been our pleasure to host guests at AWAY in the COUNTY Bed & Breakfast over the past 14 years. Helping visitors appreciate all the wonderful things the County has to offer has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Many of you have become dear friends, returning time and time again, and for that we are truly grateful.

Closing the Bed & Breakfast was not an easy decision, but we have several projects in the works that now require more of our time and attention.

Susan opened Melt Studio & Gallery in June of 2021, located in Barrack 3 at Base31. It has grown to take more of her time—something she truly loves—balancing both the creation of her own artwork and curating exhibitions featuring other talented Canadian artists. www.meltstudiogallery.com

Glen remains as busy as ever with his awards business and is currently in the process of bringing our son on board to take on a greater role in the family business. www.wallisawards.com

We are happy to share that we will continue to offer our whole home as a rental from July through to mid-September for families looking to enjoy a lovely stay in a character-filled home, set in a peaceful rural setting just minutes from town and local attractions that include the beautiful beaches of Sandbanks!

One of our first guests of the season. This sweet couple loved everything about AWAY! From the breakfasts, to the view, to the comfy room and of course to Monty our pooch and our lovely hens! They managed to include in their visit a gallery opening and an esacape at . They also enjoyed a lovely dinner and even made it to beach with the beach pass and reservation we provided.

They promised to come back again one day!
And we sure hope they do!❤️
