Some dogs leave paw prints on your heart. Others leave an entire trail behind them.
And then there were twelve. 😭
**Diana was one of those dogs. The first Born of the Asessippi Four. **
Thanks to Dr. Jonas Watson, we were gifted a couple of extra months. On borrowed time we chased as many sunsets together as we could, cherishing each day while quietly knowing that we would soon have to let her go before our hearts were ready. We are deeply grateful to the incredible people who stepped up to help us through it. 🤗 Diana was loved by the world, and so many of you were there for us in one way or another as we were forced to quickly pivot and take on the most challenging trail in her life.
Diana loved Gerald, and any kind human who she crossed paths with, she absolutely adored Victor, whose visits meant the world to her.
Diana, you were Gerald’s Sub Arctic Rose,named in honour of Lady Diana—a living reminder that something beautiful can continue to grow long after we have said goodbye. Gerald chose your name because, as he often told guests, Lady Diana was the one human he would have loved to take for a dogsled ride but never had the chance to.
We are so grateful that all the stars aligned. Simply put, an expensive flight removed you and Gerald out of Churchill so he would not have to shoot his own dog.
Diana was euthanized peacefully in Gerald’s arms at Grant Park Animal on August 26, 2026—International Dog Day and five days before the death of her namesake. She left behind many humans with a tear in their eye.
Until we meet again, Diana…
We will never forget you. And when the time comes, we will all run together again.
