❗️Level 1 Fire Ban: Supervised campfires only & they must be extinguished with water❗️

The dry conditions in our region have lead the Lanark Highlands Fire Service to issue a Level 1 Fire ban. Please be advised of the guidelines:
• Campfire must be supervised at all times
• Campfire must be extinguished fully with water
• Campfires are only permitted 2 hours before sunset and can not occur any later than 2 hours after sunrise (ie, no daytime campfires).

Thank you to the Lanark Highlands Fire Service for all that they do throughout m our region to keep us all safe

Burn Risk Status Raised to Level 1 – Fire Ban (Supervised Campfires Only)

Effective June 4, 2026, the Lanark Highlands Fire Service (LHFS) has raised the burn risk status to a Level 1 Fire Ban (Supervised Campfires Only) due to current dry conditions.

The Ministry of Natural Resources' Forest Fire Danger Rating for our region is also elevated.

Under a Level 1 Fire Ban, residents are only permitted to have supervised campfires. Appropriate extinguishing agents must be immediately available at all times.

Brush pile burning, Fireworks and all other forms of open-air burning are prohibited during a Level 1 Fire Ban.

A valid 2026 Burn Permit is required for recreational campfires.

To obtain a burn permit, please visit https://lh.burnpermits.com

Please note:
• Recreational campfires require a burn permit; however, the permit does not need to be activated.
• From April 1 to October 31, burning is only permitted beginning two hours before sunset and must be completely extinguished no later than two hours after sunrise.
• Campfires must be continuously supervised by a responsible person and extinguished immediately if conditions become unsafe.

For more information, please contact the Lanark Highlands Fire Service at 613-259-2398 ext. 236 or email [email protected].

✨Did you know that in addition to having cottage rentals and campsites, we also have cattle at our park?✨ This year we welcomed eight new baby calves to the farm. Their older sisters, pictured here sunbathing and snuggling, love to welcome visitors to the park…. especially if an apple or carrot or two happen to make their way to their field for a little snack 🥰

We love this photo because you can see so much of the agricultural heritage of the farm too:
• Livestock
• Apple trees
• Maple syrup
• Rhubarb patch
• “Martha Jane’s green Gages” (plum tree)

The beauty of Lanark County is so vast from lakes, to trees, to livestock. We encourage everyone to throughout this summer!
