I'm a Christmas girl. Let's get that out of the way. Twinkle lights, the whole thing.
But somewhere in the last five years, Halloween snuck up and claimed a piece of my heart — and the funny part is, it got there through fear.
Year one, I could barely walk down the Halloween aisle at the store. Touch a prop? Absolutely not. Build an entire haunt myself? Ma'am, be serious.
And yet here we are. Turns out this has become one more way for me to get comfortable being uncomfortable — to walk straight at the thing that makes me nervous and do it anyway.
Do I have limits? I do. I am not going out to the clown area at night, alone, with nobody there. I had to do it exactly once last year and I have never moved faster in my life. I all but sprinted back to the truck and drove that trail like I owed somebody money. Never again.
So yes — Haunted Woods has a special place in my heart now, and we are so proud of what it's becoming. A tradition. Something people plan for.
Here's the other thing we're proud of: we did not raise our prices this year.
We know everything is expensive right now. We feel it every single day — food, ingredients, drinks, electricity, fuel, overhead. We would love to hand this to you for free, but we pay our actors real wages and we keep building the haunt bigger and better every season. Free would mean this event stops existing, and then nobody gets it.
So instead we held the line, and we found some room:
