Berry Island Wilderness Lodge (formerly known as Farewell Harbour Lodge) is a remote, family owned eco-lodge on a 300 acre forested island in the Broughton Archipelago Marine Park of coastal British Columbia. The area is home to a wondrous array of marine wildlife including Orca, Humpbacks, dolphins, sea otters, sea lions and more. The Archipelago is also situated in the southern portion of Canada

's Great Bear Rainforest which is home to Grizzly bears, Black bears and other wildlife. Berry Island Wilderness Lodge offers all-inclusive multi day packages offering daily excursions in search of wildlife, comfortable ocean-front accommodations, excellent food, wood fired hot tub and sauna, a variety of activities such as sea kayaking and friendly, engaging guides. Walking through this forest feels like stepping into a different pace of time. Douglas firs and ancient cedars stretch toward the light, their bark thick and furrowed from decades of coastal wind and rain. Beneath them, the understory is soft with moss, sword ferns, and the smell of damp earth.

These old growth stands are more than scenery. They hold water, stabilize the shoreline, and support entire ecosystems above and below the soil. Every root system tells a story of resilience.

We feel lucky to walk among giants like these, and even luckier to share that experience with our guests.

Some of the best sightings out here are the ones we point out to each other. There’s a rhythm to a day on the water: someone spots a ripple, a fin, a shift in the current, and suddenly everyone is looking the same direction.

The coast mountains stand watch in the background, patient and unmoving, while the water does what it always does: keep moving, keep surprising, keep asking us to pay attention. Some trips are about what you see. This one was about who you saw it with.
