FROM CLAY TO FLAME: TRADITIONAL PIT FIRING DEMONSTRATION 🔥
Step into a tradition that connects us to the knowledge, skills, and sustainable practices of our ancestors.

Thompson Island Cultural Camp (TICC) invites community members to experience a traditional outdoor pit firing demonstration on Friday, July 17, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Akwesasne Seed Hub (1636 NY-37, Akwesasne, NY).

For thousands of years, our ancestors used wood fires to create pipes, cooking vessels, and other pottery pieces. During this hands-on cultural demonstration, Roger Perkins will share the traditional process of wood firing pottery, along with the teachings and knowledge connected to this practice. 🏺

This event is part of ongoing cultural revitalization efforts, helping reconnect our community with original ways of creating, learning, and living sustainably.
