CALL OUT FOR ARTISANS & WORKSHOP FACILITATORS
Thompson Island Cultural Camp (TICC) is seeking artisans and facilitators to provide workshops for approximately 30–35 students on the following dates:
• May 26, 2026
• June 2, 2026

TICC is looking for engaging workshop opportunities that promote creativity, cultural learning, and hands-on participation.

Interested individuals are asked to submit a quote to [email protected] by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15. Please include:
• Cost of workshop (including all materials and teaching time)
• Description of the project/workshop
• Estimated length of the workshop
• Photo(s) of the completed project

Applicants may submit proposals for one or both dates.

REMINDER: BOOKINGS CLOSED FOR 2026
Thompson Island Cultural Camp (TICC) would like to remind the community that bookings for the 2026 season are full as of November 2025. Due to high demand, community members and visitors are encouraged to plan and submit booking requests early for future seasons.

TICC extends a sincere nia:wen/thank you to everyone who has shown interest in the camp. The continued support and enthusiasm for cultural programming at Thompson Island is greatly appreciated.

FROM METAL TO MASTERPIECE: INTRO TO JEWELRY MAKING
Thompson Island Cultural Camp invites you to an Introduction to Jewelry Making Workshop! This hands-on, beginner-friendly experience with instructor Margaret Jacobs will teach you the fundamentals of jewelry making while working with copper and brass. Learn to saw, file, hammer, form, and solder — and create your own handmade pieces to take home.

Workshop Details:
🗓 Session 1: March 26–27, 2026 | 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
🗓 Session 2: March 28–29, 2026 | 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
📍 Location: Montour CPA and Associates | 609 NY-37, Akwesasne, NY

Entrance is at the back of the building (St. Regis Road side). Parking is available in front or along St. Regis Road. Lunch will be provided both days.

Participants will be selected by lottery-style draw. Deadline to register is Friday, March 20 — don’t miss your chance to jump-start your jewelry-making skills!

WEAVING WORKSHOP
Thompson Island Cultural Camp invites community members to take part in a two-day weaving workshop on March 15 and March 22 at the A’nowara’kó:wa Arena.

Join instructor Shirley Browsky from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. as she guides participants through the process of creating a beautiful table runner or small rug using a rigid heddle loom. This hands-on experience offers a meaningful opportunity to learn a new skill, connect with the creative process, and craft something special. Lunch will be provided on both days.

Participants must be able to attend both sessions. Space is limited to 7 participants, and selections will be made by random draw on March 13.

CALL OUT FOR BEADED LANYARD KEYCHAINS
Thompson Island Cultural Camp (TICC) is seeking 100 beaded wristlet lanyards from local artists.

Design and colours are up to you — creativity is welcome! Lanyards must be wristlet-length and include a key ring. There is no limit to how many lanyards an artist may submit.

Submission Deadline: Wednesday, March 4 at 4:00 p.m.

WOOL FELTING WORKSHOP WITH SHIRLEY BROWSKY
Curious about the art of wool felting? Join Thompson Island Cultural Camp for a hands-on workshop with Shirley Browsky, where participants will explore the traditional art of wool felting and learn about the history of weaving and textiles. This interactive session will guide participants through the creative process as they make their own felt ball and a custom textile image to take home.

Date: Monday, February 16
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: AMBE Building Blocks (191 Rita Lane, Kawehno:ke)

ROOTS OF LACROSSE YOUTH CAMP
Discover the history, culture, and skills behind the game of lacrosse at our Roots of Lacrosse Youth Camp! Explore how the game has evolved while connecting with its traditions and roots in our community. 🥍

When: February 17–20, 2026 | 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Where: St. Regis Mohawk School
Who: Males ages 13–17

Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day.

Campers will meet guest speakers sharing stories of lacrosse’s past, get hands-on with making and stringing their own lacrosse sticks, and participate in the medicine game to experience how the sport was played traditionally.

REQUEST FOR QUOTES: HAND DRUMS & DRUMSTICKS
Thompson Island Cultural Camp (TICC), is seeking quotes from local craftspeople to create hand drums and drumsticks that visiting youth will use at overnight camps for their social evenings.

Items Requested:
▪️ Two (2) hand drums (16” diameter) with drumsticks.
The hand drums should be similar to the reference photo provided in the graphic.
▪️Six (6) powwow drumsticks (16” - 24” in length).

Please include photos of previous work with your quote submission.
