Did you know that the Oceanfront Suites at Cowichan Bay hosts two Dragon Boats at our dock? The tradition began in 2018, when we welcomed the STDs – Stroke the Dragon, followed by the second boat the following year.

Stroke the Dragon Boat is dedicated to supporting the team we sponsor. In return for complimentary moorage, they prominently display our logo on their boat during races. Their practice sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Boat number two, which belongs to the Separation Point Dragon Boat Society, is used by three different teams, which pay moorage fees. These teams are:
● Easy Riders: Practice Wednesday evenings.
● Jolly Dragons: Practice Monday & Thursday mornings (Seniors team).
● Sea Sisters: Practice Tuesday evenings.

Our Race Hosting History: Before 2020, we hosted a major race event from our dock and on our waterfront lawn. Unfortunately, heavy winds on the day of the event forced an early cancellation, leaving organizers and participants alike with an unfavourable experience.

A great way to celebrate and honour this day is to visit the oceans or seas via bays and ports. Observe ships arriving and departing, and watch boats moving through the harbour. Cowichan Bay village offers the perfect opportunity for boat watching.
