🌊 Front Desk Flash: The Early Check-Ins Have Arrived! 🦭

Management would like to officially inform all guests that our seasonal VIPs (Very Impressive Pinnipeds) have checked in ahead of schedule—without making a reservation, as usual.

While we typically prepare for our noisy, heavy-weight Steller and California sea lion neighbours to roll in closer to the autumn salmon runs, a few enthusiastic early arrivals have already bypassed the front desk and staked their claims right on the nearby docks.

Here is what you need to know for your stay:

The Soundtrack: The neighbourhood symphony has officially begun. Earplugs are available at the front desk upon request for anyone hoping to sleep in past sunrise!

Prime Viewing: If you take a stroll down toward the marina you’ll get a front-row seat to their lounging and barking. Just remember to admire their impressive frames (up to 800 kg!) from a safe and respectful distance.

Dock Traffic: Expect some temporary congestion down on the water as the docks quickly fill up with our favourite blubbery visitors getting an early start on the feast.

Did you know the famous "Bard of the Yukon," Robert Service, once called Cowichan Bay home? 🖋️🌊
Did you know the legendary poet Robert Service once worked right here in our community? 🌾

Before becoming the "Bard of the Yukon," he spent four years working at the Corfield ranch and farm flats by the Koksilah River. His daily life included managing the local store and post office, delivering mail, and even tutoring.

You can still visit his legacy today at the Robert Service Memorial Park near Cowichan Bay and Bench Road, where a beautiful stone chair and plaque pay tribute to his time in the valley. 🖋️✨
