Coastal Springs Float Lodge

Coastal Springs Float Lodge At Coastal Springs Float Lodge we offer a private, fly-in fishing experience, only taking 8 guests at a time. Our lodge has been in operation for five decades.

Coastal Springs Float Lodge (formerly Sailcone Wilderness Fishing) has been in operation since 1977 on the British Columbia Coast between Knight Inlet and the The Broughton Archipelago. Through this history we have developed a culture, staff, and experience that is unlike anything else you will find in BC. Only accepting 8 guests or less per group allows us to give you the most personal and privat

e fishing experience available. With all 5 Pacific Salmon species, halibut, ling cod, rockfish, grizzly bears, orcas, humpbacks, dolphins, eagles and more, our protected waters will give you a trip to remember for years to come. Our floating lodge has been in operation since 1977 and was built on the simple value that an exclusive, personal operation will always outperform that of a large faceless one. This was simple in the early days as there were few large lodges to compare ourselves to. However, we now find ourselves as one of the smallest lodges on the BC coast as most others have decided to shift their focus to volume. Not us. Our 8-guest capacity offers an experience not available elsewhere, as your group alone can easily take exclusive use of the lodge with a group of 6 or more - fully guided with only 2 guests per boat. Our all-inclusive trips also include float plane transportation between Vancouver or Campbell River and the lodge, accommodation, all gourmet meals, wine, fuel, gear, boats, fish processing and packaging, cold weather gear, and licenses. All you need to do is find yourself at the float plane dock, and we take care of everything for you after that. The lodge has gone through changes over the years, but its heart has remained the same. It is a pillar of the area and has been running longer than any other local lodge. As one of the first ever fly-in lodges in BC, its reputation is stellar, built on the history of the many fishers who have walked its docks - guests and staff alike. We’re taking the next step.

Building on the work we’ve already done to support fisheries and the communities behind recreational sport fishing, we’re expanding our efforts with a new stewardship program.

Through this program, we’ll provide grants ranging from $1,000 to $15,000 to support projects focused on:

• Conservation
• Education
• Access

The focus will be on recreational sport fishing, with this initial grant cycle supporting projects in Canada.

We will continue to support fisheries and angling initiatives across the United States through ongoing partnerships and sponsorships.

Stay tuned for program name and more details...

Gibbs Fishing has supported our trip giveaway contests and fundraising efforts over the past years and are great stewards of the industry. It’s great to see them doing so this directly now.

For over 118 years, we’ve believed fishing is about more than what’s on the end of the line. It’s about unplugging and reconnecting with the water, with each other, and with the places that shape who we are.

As a Canadian-owned and Canadian-operated company, salmon fisheries are woven into both our history and our responsibility moving forward. They matter deeply to the communities, families, guides, retailers, and anglers who depend on them.

We’ve seen how engaged and passionate our fishing community has been around the ongoing Salmon Allocation Policy review. That level of care speaks volumes about what this resource means across the Pacific Northwest.

We support balanced, science-based approaches that protect salmon populations while sustaining strong and responsible recreational fishing opportunities. Ensuring that conservation remains the foundation, and that recreational anglers have a voice and equitable access, is critical to the future of our fisheries and our communities.

Healthy fisheries. Responsible access. Long-term stewardship.
We’re in this together, today and for the generations who will cast after us.

When I visited Coastal Springs Float Lodge last summer, humpback whales could be seen all around us while we fished. Getting a proper slow-mo shot was more difficult than I had expected, but once awhile I pointed the camera in the right direction. 🐋 🎥

There is a new Guide Story Series blog post up on our blog page, written by Allan Hyggen. He reflects on his introduction to Cracroft Point in the early 80s, a punishing trolling style, and relationships made by hundreds of 15 second interactions with a person passed on the water.

A series of photos which we captured at Coastal Springs Float Lodge last summer. This wasn’t just a fishing trip, but the wildlife, landscape, people and food completed the experience. If you are looking for one float lodge trip in this lifetime, this one is it.
