"We had no doubt that Harry John's House would be a winner for our family. The pictures and description were spot on. The place is completely renovated, updated and full of character and charm. The kids loved the loft spaces and there was plenty of room for our 2 families to spread out for relaxing and play. The ocean view from the large windows in the open concept, 2nd floor family room was spectacular! We even saw whales (twice)! The campfire area and grassy side and backyard were perfect for the kids to explore. We also treked down the cliffs to find sea urchins and shells, walked the windy road through Cupids to the harbour to forage for seaglass and enjoyed the marked trail around the stunning cliffs just up the hill from the house. This location has it all and is pure Newfoundland - just like the amazing host, Chad. The neighbouring towns have lots to offer and we enjoyed daily excursions full of sights, hikes and amazing food. We will definitely be back because we have so much more to see and do.

Right off the top we want to express our gratitude and appreciation for an incredible 2023 season! We really didn't know what to expect for our first season welcoming friends and guests to enjoy our wonderful home, but what we received exceeded even our highest expectations. We were humbled by all the incredible feedback we received, and promise to make 2024 even better!
Our New Format

Heading into 2024 we've decided it is the right time to roll out our originally intended format. You see, it was not our intention to operate a short term rental property. We bought Harry John's House early in 2020 to be our home for when we can make it home. And with good fortune, for HJH to eventually be our forever home. Given the many events of the last few years, we needed to adjust and adapt our plans and approach with this wonderfully unique property. So, we posted our home on AirBnb and VRBO to "test the waters". Well, as has been already expressed, that test went extremely well.
Still, we want to move to the format that aligns better with our vision for Harry John's House. Please read on for details on our new short term rental format, and how our friends and return guests can share in our passion for this wonderful and truly unique property.
2024 Packages and Rates

For the remainder of 2023 and continuing through 2024, advance bookings for Harry John's House (more than 6 weeks out) will be limited to stays of a minimum of one week (7 days). Also, we will be blocking off several months during the off-season for monthly bookings.
We will continue to offer HJH on the short term rental sites like AirBnb and VRBO for shorter stays like weekends and holidays. But our hope is to have our guests enjoy longer stays that better provide that authentic Newfoundland experience we have on offer.

Notes
1. The only booking we will be taking for January through March is for the entire 3 months. We are looking for a family or individual who welcomes the opportunity to experience our Newfoundland winter and all its wild and majestic glory, from the comfort of Harry John's House.
2. Both the Weekly and Monthly (4 weeks) bookings will run from Saturday to Saturday.
Shorter term stays will still be available as part of our Last Minute and Seasonal deals that we will post regularly throughout the season. These reduced rates, and shorter term stays, will be made available first to our community of returning guests and friends. After our insiders have had several days to consider the deals, we will make them available to everybody on all the platforms, like AirBnb and VRBO.

We have had several of our guests - and many potential guests - inquire about any deals we might offer to returning and regular guests. We will certainly be offering our best deals to such loyal friends and guests.
We want to grow our community and see it filled with the very people who share in our passion for this place, and who truly appreciate the authentic Newfoundland experience that is always on offer with a stay at Harry John's House.
