My personal best keeps inching up slowly! This was on my kid’s 5 1/2 foot light rod and 5 pound line. I’ll add on some length and call it a 48” with that handicap!

Something amazing happened this week. Two of our longest running clients were here at the same time. Meet Chip and Ken. They each started coming in the late 70’s / early 80’s and have an unbelievable 90 years of experience on this lake between them. Incredible guys. Thanks for being with NCC for so many years, teaching us and sharing your stories.

We’ve made a difficult choice.

Since 1988, well before current ownership, guests at North Caribou Camps have been leaving their mark on the walls of the main kitchen during their stays. Over the years, it has become a part of the story and history of the camp.

However, after decades of smoke and grease buildup, an ever-growing number of signatures on the walls, and more recently seeing signatures begin to appear in other areas around camp, we’ve decided that it’s time to refinish the interior of the kitchen.

We’ll be taking down all signs and non-NCC memorabilia and sanding the walls back to bare wood before refinishing them. This will also give us the opportunity to make the kitchen look fresh and attractive again, while creating space for our own North Caribou Camps merchandising and memorabilia.

If you have a sign, hat, or other removable item from your stay that you would like to have back, please let us know. We’ll carefully save everything until the end of the 2027 season so you have plenty of time to claim it.

It’s bittersweet to make this change. Those names, dates and memories represent decades of guests, friendships and stories, and they’ve been an important part of North Caribou Camps’ history.

But after all these years, we feel it’s time to turn the page and take care of the kitchen for the next generation of guests.
