General information

Check in between 4-6pm daily or other arranged time. Check out by 11am HISTORY The home that is Dundas Glen is contained in the Hamilton City’s Inventory of Buildings of Architectural and/or Historical Interest (Volume 2). Members of the historical society conducted a survey of the property in the 1990s. Staff have a copy of the survey on file, which estimates the date of construction prior to 1851. The 1994 survey also states the following (please note that staff have not verified this research): “The actual date of construction of 271 Hatt St. is not available from assessment records, however it does appear on the 1851 map with the name T. Mountain. By 1869 John Dickie, a prosperous merchant, owned the dwelling which he rented to T. Casey, carpenter. The next owner was Thomas Hickey, a contractor and he made it his family home for over 20 years. The rear brick kitchen addition was added sometime after 1904 and has since been covered with siding. An addition was added to the rear-west of the house four years ago which blends harmoniously with the rest of the façade. This is an extremely attractive and well-maintained, mid-nineteenth century home. The porch with its carved posts and decorative trim make this house stand out among its neighbours. Recent renovations have served to enhance the historic qualities of this home.”
