Vinny was left on a friends porch last Saturday (by an as***le if you ask me)… If I knew who it was I’d report him, but all I’ve been able to do is help house him for the last week.

I’ve called every shelter in the GTA, Barrie and some up north like dog tails…everyone is FILLED TO CAPACITY, which breaks my heart.

I wanted to keep him, but today for the first time EVER I saw a VERY aggressive side to my current Doberman. He tried to hurt Vinny badly and lucky I broke it up before any blood was drawn… this was during our walk, which was actually meant to help them bond (I researched walking helps new dogs to bond with the older ones).

My dog is USUALLY extremely docile and well trained thanks to Eric and beyond the leash. He gets along great with other dogs and usually never fights…so this was very shocking and hurtful to see, especially because they started off so well together. I’ve done as much research as I know how to in order to try and find ANY WAY to make this work as I know rehoming dogs right now is very difficult. Either jealousy or that “puppy temperament” set off my 7 year old dobie, either way, for Vinny’s safety I cannot keep him. I’m beyond heartbroken, but determined to find him a good home. Here is what I know about him so far as he was just dumped…

• SUPER SWEET AND LOVING, constantly wants to give kisses
• Very playful
• Approximately 10-12 weeks old, no way to know for sure until I bring to the vet (this week)
• He’s got some separation anxiety (which is understandable since he was left in the heat for 2 days with no food or water), but we’ve been working on crate training and attachment issues in the 7 days I’ve had him and he’s been doing amazing!
• VERY trainable and willing to learn
• Friendly with other dogs
• Snorts like a pig 🐷
• ALMOST fully potty trained (he learns quickly)
• My guess is he’s a mix of one of or all of the following breeds:
- boxer
- cane corso
- mastiff
- bulldog

I am NOT looking to sell him, only to be reimbursed for what I’ve purchased for him thus far, as it was an added expense that I wasn’t anticipating. I couldn’t leave him to fend for himself at this age, so I took it on…I’ve purchased food/bowls/leash/collar/toys etc. I’ve spent $200 and will be taking him to the vet Friday where I’ll be spending more for his first round of shots (unless he’s rehomed before that).

I am looking for someone with experience with big dogs or these specific breeds & for someone who will NOT give up on him and has lots of time for him as he’s a little pup in the midst of crate and potty training. Aggressiveness was the ONLY thing that was going to make me rehome him. I was confident we’d be okay, but alas, you can never fully trust a dog and my Doberman is no different, he is my first priority and the pup doesn’t need to feel scared daily or be around a dog that could scar his potential to mingle with other dogs in the future.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you know someone looking for a pup, adopt instead of heading to a backyard breeder, SO MANY DOG &&&& PUPPIES need homes❗️

Please DM me if you think Vinny is a good fit for you and your family ♥️

Share time with all our guests who follow us, past and present and future! We have sold our property just North of Huntsville and purchased a property in South River which is about 3 hours from the GTA. It’s 100 acres of land with about 15 acres on the water and fronts on 72-acre King Lake of which we own our shoreline, the property has a cute little house that is ours a beautiful garage that we are very excited about, we are also the proud new owners of a pontoon boat, a 1945-built log cabin that we will be restoring for guests and a Canadian Pacific Train Caboose that we will also be restoring for guests. There are trails for hiking, atv’g, etc. throughout the property and there are 1200 acres of crown land at the back the property. We are sad to have sold our property, anyone who has visited knows why... however, we may continue to offer a Rustic Muskoka Cottage experience in the future, so we will keep the name :) stay tuned if there are any developments there, we will keep you posted! So that is our King, Cabin and Caboose secret we are sharing with friends and family today!

The realities of country living... a home in the bush just wouldn’t be a home in the bush without the amusement provided by local wildlife - we have been in a ‘friendly war’ with a chipmunk/squirrel, when we say friendly war, what we mean by that is we are not laying traps or poison, because pets and children visit us and we have pets and kids in our families as well, but we are actively trying to keep Mr. / Ms. Squirrel out of our home. He/She has decided that they love the Rustic Muskoka Cottage and don’t want to leave. He/She has been helping themself to our guests croissants 🥐 and fruits and veggies, thank you to our guests who has been patient with us as we constantly battle the wildlife making our home their home! 🥰

Just over a year ago we had absolutely no clue about living up North, we were mostly in the City and when visiting the North we stayed in comfy and cozy big hotels. We have learned a lot being homeowners in Emsdale for just over a year now. We have faced and conquered plumbing challenges, heating challenges, roofing challenges, cedar shake siding challenges, mice and chipmunks, the odd snake, the cold, the wind, dead trees, septic systems, the list goes on and on and on... one of the things we never understood about the North were the costs associated with heating your home in the winter months. Very different from City costs. Our home is heated by a furnace oil tank. Which is quite expensive to fill. And because of all the beautiful windows surrounding our home, the heat is constantly working. Unfortunately, we have showed up to flip our place from guest to guest and found the heat blasted and a window or two open on the first / second floor. We don’t blame anyone, because we have been there (not understanding) and made a mistake or two along the way not knowing.. but to save us losing hundreds of dollars over a couple of nights stay, we have added this “lockbox” over our thermostat. With a controlled temperature, set at 19 degrees. Of course, in the winter months, we hope guests will use our wood burning fireplace (added in November 2020) to heat the house since it will heat up to 2400 sq. ft. (Our place is 1600 sq. ft. approximately) but overnight the furnace will keep temperatures comfortable.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
He would chuck, he would, as much as he could, and chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would if a woodchuck could chuck wood. **er **er
