Just before the holiday break, we announced a partnership with the Winnipeg Jets in an effort to honour ALL Manitoba firefighters who helped save Flin Flon during this past summer’s wildfires — as a further extension of our Cast it Forward initiative.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been able to connect with almost all the firefighters to offer them tickets to the Jets’ March 15 home game, with the opportunity to bring some of their family members along.

We’re pleased to share that we’re now planning to welcome approximately 350 firefighters and their family members to the game — where they’ll be recognized together during a special in-game moment, followed by a post-game, on-ice group photo. It’s shaping up to be a truly meaningful night!

Because many people reached out asking how they could support this effort, we wanted to provide one final opportunity for anyone who feels moved to participate. Donations made through the link below will help to support the purchase of ticket packages for Manitoba firefighters and their families.

$80 sends one firefighter
$160 sends a firefighter and a guest
$800 sends ten people!

Cast it Forward 2025 is here — and this year, we’re honouring firefighters.

Just over a week ago, we shared Curt’s heartfelt account of how Kississing and Flin Flon were saved during the 2025 wildfires. Many of you reached out, expressing how deeply the story resonated.

Today, we’re honoured to share the next chapter.

In this video, Curt & Juanita share the inspiration behind Firefighter Appreciation Week, a special 4- Day/4-Night experience we’ll be hosting in July 2026 as part of this year’s Cast it Forward initiative.

There are two ways you can participate:

1. Nominate a Firefighter Who Helped Protect Flin Flon
Departments and communities will be contacted directly — but if you know someone who was deployed in Flin Flon during the 2025 wildfires and you would like to nominate them, email
[email protected] and we’ll send you the nomination guidelines for this group.

2. Nominate a Firefighter from anywhere in North America
We’ll also be selecting two firefighters from Canada and two firefighters from the United States to join us during Firefighter Appreciation Week. If you know a firefighter whose dedication deserves to be celebrated, now is the time to nominate them.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving with our U.S. friends, we’re reflecting on the year behind us — and Curt is sharing a story we’ll never forget.

This past summer, wildfires surged across northern Manitoba — placing Kississing Lake Lodge directly in the path of danger and eventually threatening the town of Flin Flon as well. Many of you reached out asking what happened, how close the fires came, and how things are now.

Today, we’re sharing the full story.

In this special Thanksgiving message, Curt recounts what unfolded — from the moment the fires began advancing toward the lodge, to evacuating guests, to the split-second decisions that followed, and the heroic efforts of firefighters and community members who ultimately helped save Kississing, the float base, and Flin Flon itself.

It’s a story of resilience, renewal, and deep gratitude… and one that also inspired the focus of our 2025 Cast it Forward initiative.

It’s a longer story, but a meaningful one — and if you have a few moments this Thanksgiving, we hope you’ll take the time to watch and reflect with us.
