What happens when you send one of Canada’s best-known fishing YouTubers onto a lake he’s never fished before?
We got to find out this spring when Jay Siemens and his family spent a few days with us at The Citadel.
Jay showed up without a guide and without someone feeding him fishing spots. He started exploring and found schools of crappie, walleye, smallmouth and northern pike.
At one point he found a huge school of crappies suspended just a few feet below the surface. Later came the smallmouth, a nice 22–23" class walleye and what Jay called a “proper Sunset Country slab.”
When he wasn’t fishing, the family was at the beach, playground, chickens, cabins and around Nestor Falls.
If Jay’s video has you itching to get on the water, we still have September fishing-trip availability.
The lake gets quieter, the air gets cooler and Sunset Country starts changing into fall.
