We took a walk through the Queen’s to see what’s changed lately, and there’s been a LOT happening behind the scenes.

The hotel rooms are getting painted, the staircase is starting to take shape, and downstairs is getting one step closer to drywall.

A little care goes a long way ✨

This has never been about changing the Queens Hotel. It’s about revealing it. Uncovering the building that once stood as a source of pride in Fort Macleod over a century ago.

With careful sandblasting, fresh paint, and handcrafted windows replacing years of wear and heavy layers, her original beauty is beginning to shine through. What was always there is simply visible once more.

In many ways, she hasn’t changed at all. She's just been brought back into the light.

Wondering what’s been going on inside the Queen’s lately?

The top two floors are now painted, which means the future hotel rooms are finally starting to feel like actual rooms instead of a construction zone.

The new stairs are in too! The original base had to be replaced to meet current code, but we were able to save the old rails and spindles and work them into the new staircase. We are so excited to see the end result on this one!

Downstairs, the new additions are coming along too. Framing and flooring are in, and we’re finishing up the utility work. Once that’s done, we can really start making some progress on the main floor bar and restaurant.

This archival photo, courtesy of the Glenbow Archives, gives us a pretty incredible glimpse at the Queen’s Hotel bar as it once was.

According to a local legend, the large mirror behind the bar was shattered by a bullet during a particularly lively skirmish in the hotel around 1912–1913.

True story? We’ll let you decide. 😉

We even recorded before the drywall went up for maximum creepiness.
