It’s the last day of Aquatic Invasive Species Awareness Week, but that doesn’t mean you can ignore them the rest of the year. We’re all responsible for protecting Saskatchewan’s waters.

Microscopic larvae from invasive species such as zebra and quagga mussels, can survive in even a few drops of water. Help keep invasive plants, fish and diseases out of our lakes and rivers by following the clean, drain and dry guidelines every time you exit a waterbody.

• Clean all plants, animals and mud from watercraft and equipment.
• Drain all water from bilges, live wells and motors, and ensure drain plugs are removed during transport.
• Dry everything thoroughly before entering another waterbody.

And remember, if you’re transporting a watercraft you must stop at all inspection stations you encounter– it’s the law.

The sun’s setting on ice fishing season. We hope you’ve had a great season out on the ice! The deadline to remove ice fishing shelters varies by area: March 15 if you’re south of Highway 16 and March 31 to the north.

We’ve already had some unseasonably warm weather, and we know Saskatchewan weather likes to keep us on our toes. So please make plans to safely remove your ice fishing shelter. Be extremely cautious on the ice and ensure it’s safe for travel since ice thickness can vary greatly.

Needing a farm update for the 2026 season?

We will be building a farmstand on our property! This is our way of sharing beautiful bouquets, some organic produce, pasture raised eggs, fresh baking, canned goods, as well as other products made here on the farm, or made by other locals. In many other provinces and states, farm stands are very common and are a way for communities to support each other, as well as a way for people to build relationships with their farmer. This is something we have lost over the years. My hope is that we can provide you with quality, organically grown foods and flowers, grown right here in Saskatchewan and that we can bring back a way that communities used to connect with one another.

What do you think? Will you stop by the farm stand this summer?
