Cleaning our personal residence weekly. Not the inn. Will need some help sorting and organizing our things. Need weekly help cleaning house top to bottom, including dishes and laundry and bathrooms.

Pays 20.00/h 4 hours a week.

Once a week Housecleaning at our house, *not* the inn. 20 bucks an hour.

Need someone to do household chores. Clean the kitchen and dishes, laundry, folding laundry, vacuum, bathrooms, sorting and organizing personal belongings. Even ebay some of it for us.

For some jobs if you need input on sorting, etc., I will be around to help.

I am vaccinated (second shot when they give it to us), but will wear a mask while you are here.

We are looking at grim times for the forseeable future in the NWT Tourism industry as well.

We hope that when things return to some semblance of normal, you all reconsider your vacation plans of going to Edmonton and beyond and book within your own Territory!

Let us tantalize you with what post self-isolation Fort Simpson has to offer! Dream about coming here!

First off, when you stay with us, you are supporting a locally owned business owned by an Liidli Kue First Nation member. Bannockland Inn is situated on it's own private estate of 54 acres. We have Sandhill Cranes as annual visitors right down here on the property. We are the nicest place in the Deh Cho, if not the entire NWT to stay at.

Secondly, Fort Simpson is much warmer than most places in the NWT in the summer. As such, our Seven Spruce Golf Course is an ideal reason to come to the heat of the Deh Cho, and golf a weekend or whole week away on lush greens and nobody ever asking you for a bye. Or go fishing in the river or one of our nearby creeks. Or get that annual moose tag filled and stay with us in luxury while you are here!

Finally, Experience the amazing Aurora Borealis that is unpolluted by the bright lights of Yellowknife. Get those AMAZING Borealis photo's you simply can't get anywhere else but "out in the bush" and away from the lightwash. While you are here, imagine booking that trip of a lifetime down the Nahanni river through the Nahanni National Park.

We hope you have time to reflect on how things you used to effortlessly plan may be different going forward. You can still have that with a 6 hour drive from Yellowknife, or a 9 hour drive from Fort Smith! Remember you local businesses as this all passes, as all things must!

We are looking for someone with a Hospitality Management diploma or degree to move here for a permanent position running the day to day tasks of our luxury 14 room inn.

These tasks include: Reception, housekeeping, property upkeep and maintenance, marketing, lead generation and sales, proposal writing, and the general management of the business.

This is primarily a housekeeping position, with the opportunity to GM as well. You will be the only regular staff.

There are perks! You will live in a gorgeous mansion for free (room and partial board). You get to work at your own pace mostly. You can wake up as early or as late as you like, within reason and business requirements. Night-owls are fine by us! So are early risers! We will pay one return flight a year from Yellowknife (nearest big airport) to anywhere in Canada.

Your typical day to day would be: Wake up. Make a coffee for yourself. Our guests are on a DIY system for breakfast so you don't need to worry about that. Read some news on slow day. Have some breakfast. Shovel the steps off. Make up the guests rooms and clean the house. If you have time left in the regular work day, make some marketing or proposal writing calls. Generate sales leads. Busy streaks might be a bit more about just keeping up with cleaning the house on a full day.

So, as you can see, the workload can vary from elbow grease cleaning of tubs and toilets, to writing funding proposals for government grant money. If you have post secondary education in the hospitality or marketing fields, we should talk.

Because we are a smaller operation and cannot guarantee a high wage unless we have had a good sales month, we are offering a minimum income of: Free room and partial board, and 1000.00 a month as a "mincome".

The mincome works like this... We will not start increasing your pay above the mincome unless you have earned more than 1000.00 from cleaning rooms and doing tasks. Generally, we pay 25.00 to clean a room. We list a maximum of 7000.00 because that HAS been earned by prior staff on very busy months at high season. Other tasks can be negotiated as they arise.

For time off: No way! No vacations ever! Kidding. It will likely be a span of quietness in December and January each year where you are free to do as you like, so long as you have sorted out your cleaning duties (may be able to arrange locally).

The faces of Bannockland Inn:

The man with the snowy beard is George Dalziel. He was the father of the owner, Nick. He was an early bush pilot, and so much more. A bit of a local legend.

The second picture is a portriat of Ehmbee, and was painted by Randy Sibbeston. This was Nick's grandmother, who raised him as a small child.

The portrait of the man with the rabbit is also a Randy Sibbeston painting. The man is Charley Hanson, Nick's uncle by marriage to his auntie Edna. He was barely a teenager when he emigrated from Denmark to Canada, and made his way up to the Deh Cho. He was a skilled carpenter and entrepreneur.

The photo of the old man in the baseball cap is Joah Boots. He was known as a Dene spiritual leader, and regarded by some as even a Dene saint. He lived his life on he land, and was witness to the incredible transformation of his traditional lifestyle to the one we live today.

The next portrait is a painting by Randy Sibbeston. She may be the most recognizable of all the portraits here, as it is a portrait of Granny Lafferty. She was the matriarch of the local Lafferty family. She was well respected as a local wise woman and lived to over 100 years old.

The last portrait is also by Randy Sibbeston. It is a portrait of Ted Trindell. Ted was another local Metis legend of the Deh Cho. He was just a young man when he sought his fortune with the Hudson's Bay Company. He had a real knack for languages, and learned every language from Inuvik to Fort Smith, and became the invaluable interpreter of the HBCs river barge up and down the Mackenzie River. He was known as an expert tracker and trapper, and gained the reputation of being "The Shakespeare of the North" due to his charisma and language fluency.

This job is Full-time in Ft. Simpson, NT. We are looking mainly for a cleaning person. If you show up reliably when we need you, you can stay employed with us as long as you like. Must provide own transportation. This ad will stay posted until we are satisfied you are that kind of person.

We are building a list of people for this job in case of holidays, emergencies, no shows, etc. Your interview will be to reply to this ad and we will pay you per room done during the "interview".

THIS IS NOT A PER HOUR JOB. The wages will be based on how many rooms need cleaned. "Mom" will be checking your work. We pay for rooms cleaned to her standard.

About the job:

Clean rooms means change the sheets and do the laundry linens for departing guests or make the guests bed if they are staying longer. Scrub the tub, toilet, sink, floor, vacuum, dust, clean the mirror and counter-tops/nightstands, and empty the garbage. Make the the rooms shiny clean.

We also expect that the kitchen and living-room will be cleaned, the entrance-way washroom will be scrubbed, the stairs to the house and deck shoveled/swept in the winter, and all the inside stairs vacuumed as part of your room wages. We think the pay is fair for that type of deal. The workload can be managed on a fully booked day by catching up on slower days. Some things won't always need done on those busy days.

BONUS:
If you are a detail oriented person that has experience dealing with the public, and are wanting to take the full responsibilities of the inn on (A real challenge for one person, but do-able), we can see how you are over a couple of months and we would once again pay you for each of the following if we think you can handle it:

Answering the phone and making a booking in our PMS (Property Management System): 10.00 per data entry. Group bookings are 15.00 per data entry. Conferences are 10.00 per data entry.

Replying to an email and making a booking in our PMS: 10.00 per data entry. Group bookings are 15.00 per data entry. Conferences are 10.00 per data entry.

Checking in a guest and taking payments: 10.00 per check-in.

Calling Booking.com or Expedia.com and solving an issue (Get the agent to send a verification email about the issue and resolution.): 10.00 per issue solved.

Mowing the lawn with lawn tractor (provided) 10.00

Washing vehicle with provided pressure washer and bucket: 15.00

Vacuuming vehicle interior: 10.00

Driving vehicle or guest to or from airport with supplied vehicle and gasoline: 15.00 per drive "to and from" the airport.

Making Conference Guests Lunch with groceries provided and cleaning up everything: 15.00 per meal per guest. Free meal included.

Other tasks as needed will be negotiated.

The detail oriented thing is important, you need to be and stay on top of each booking. We are trying so hard for that 5 star review, and bad reviews are so costly to us!
