Feeling strong and powerful, soft and loving in this 60th year.
It’s a funny thing, the numbers changing every year, some numbers are more intimidating than others. Some, like this year…I’m excited about, bring it on. Celebrating love and life and years of living, wisdom and curiosity in this incredible self we are given.

Hay hay, it’s that time of year again.
Our alpacas are 19 years old now!! Noel and Albert eat second cut hay, we get it from an old family farmer in Nanaimo.
Adam and I gave the kids the alpacas for Christmas all those years ago, their manure is very popular on the island for gardens, we ship the fibres to a family in Alberta to create cozy socks for the studio. Way back our kids would decide where they would donate part of the sales, usually cats alive and the lions who both do amazing things for our island community.
We had the help of two friends to unload the hay this year.
We all love the effort it takes and how many people are involved from growing the hay at the farm to feeding these amazing animals, shearing and bagging manure.
Reflecting on the connections it takes to make it all happen, and It’s such a good feeling every year.

And somedays are harder than others, it was time but it doesn’t make it easier.
To say thank you and farewell to our beloved 19 year old Madame Fluffy. She taught me a lot about life and love, she loved big and she loved hard. She also had boundaries and she made them very clear.
She loved a lot of kids, and cared for a few of our dogs and her brother Thalee over her lifetime, they loved her and knew who was boss.
As she got older she softened and she observed the world from the hot tub lid or the couch, watching the birds and napping in nature.
Fluffy loved to cozy in real tight with us to feel the love and warmth.
She was a giver and learned to receive as well. She is my teacher, I’m not cat person you see yet here I am surely have become one.
Madame Fluff, you’ll be in our hearts forever. RIP
