See calendar on Airbnb. ‘The Forest' is perfect for those seeking a serene private getaway to restore in mature. The setting is a serene woodsy oasis and what dreams are made of (if you're a nature lover)! On the land you will find several ponds, trails of varying degrees of roughness and you might see the deer roaming around (they are out there you will see all the tracks!), hopefully not see a b
ear but there a nearby family, and likely hear the various birds, coyotes and wolves, and maybe even see a hawk or an eagle. And of course the wildflowers of which I have counted between 10 and 15 different kinds including wild lilies, roses and orchids. The main airbnb cabin has all the modern day comforts but as John Prine directed in his music, I threw out the TV :) but kept the guitar and banjo lol (seriously!). There are 2 decks to choose from, depending on whether you are wanting sun or shade throughout the day. I would love the place to continue to be pup friendly so bring your dog and explore the forest ;). At night I love to cozy up inside with a nice fire in the woodstove. Developing plans include a yurt, a group campsite complete (done!) with composting outhouse and outdoor shower and claw foot tub (all done!), tipi and a vintage trailer and a pretty pristine 22 foot sailboat with ladder to get up - all done!). We bought a vw bus shell and if you’re into roughing it a couple of your group can stay in the futon bed in the 1971 vw bus. Oh I bought a second trailer this year a as HD pit it in a private spot so two of your group can stay there too :). Future plans are all on the sustainable building plans - maybe a Cobb tiny house or something, if only there was more time! A few years ago we put in a new swimming area and fire pit and expanded the ponds for the wildlife and guest use. The pond is amazing and oh the boulders by the pond fire pit :). The cabin, front and back decks, trails, pond, tipi and campsite, trailer and about 60 of the back acres are all yours to explore. We are building our spot a ways away from the cabin on the front 20 acres or so, and our own private trails, come say hello if you like at our prospector tent. We know you like your secluded privacy so we’ll just assume you’re doin’ your own thing. But holler if you need something. :)
We love the place in summer or winter, in winter it is equally beautiful and great for snowshoeing or close to the renowned ski trails of Camp Morton. In summer check out the shores of Lake Winnipeg and the Monastery at Camp Morton or go for a drive to Gimli or Riverton and other close by towns. I want to personally acknowledge that in the interlake of Manitoba we are on the homelands of the Metis Nation and the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe Nations of Treaty 1. This deserves special recognition and respect and reconciliation with the Indigenous Nations on whose territories we are on in this place called Canada. All my best to wonderful guests and visitors!
