Think everything closes when summer ends? Not on Grand Manan! 🍕☕🍂

Our island is home to a year-round community, which means there are still plenty of places to eat, shop and explore throughout October and November.

Stop for coffee or lunch at Newton's Mercantile & Café or Mère's Cafè , enjoy a meal at The Seaquel, Harbour Grille, or High Seas Convenience , order a handcrafted pizza from Postoffice Pizza , enjoy a locally crafted beer at Grand Manan Brewing Co. and browse local shops and pick up everything you need from Grand Manan Independent Grocer for a cozy cottage supper. Many other small shops remain open as well.

Some businesses operate on reduced fall hours, so check their social media pages before heading out—but don’t let the quieter season fool you. Grand Manan is still very much open and ready to welcome you!

Visit Grand Manan this fall and experience the authentic Maritime fishing culture at the heart of our island. ⚓🦞

As November approaches, the wharves fill with traps, boats and excitement as crews prepare for lobster season. 🛥️

Setting Day is scheduled for the second Tuesday of November and is one of the most exciting mornings of the year. Before sunrise, boats loaded high with traps head out onto the Bay of Fundy as families and community members gather to see them off. 💥

It’s a tradition filled with excitement, hope and generations of island history—and a truly special time to experience Grand Manan.

Setting Day is weather-dependent, so visitors should watch for local updates and enjoy the activity from a safe public viewing area.

Did you know October and November are two of the best months for beachcombing on Grand Manan? 🗓️

The days can still be mild enough for long walks along the shore, while fall winds, stronger tides and passing storms begin washing new treasures onto the beaches.

Sea glass, pottery, driftwood, shells and other little pieces of island history are waiting to be discovered—especially after a storm.

Bring sturdy shoes, check the tides and take your time. You never know what the Bay of Fundy might leave behind.

2. Explore the cliffs at Southwest Head—fall colours, sunsets and dramatic seas make the views even more incredible.

3. Search for sea glass, pottery and other treasures along the island’s best beaches.

4. Enjoy a fall round at Brookside Golf Course before the season ends and enjoy a delicious craft beer at Grand Manan Brewing Co.

5. Get a pumpkin late from Newton's Mercantile & Café and take the scenic route around the island.

Then head back to your cottage, make a cozy supper and spend the evening in the hot tub or relaxing by the ocean.
