Paddling the Hoc Roc River near Taboo, you'd likely spot deer, beavers, otters, frogs, and other forest creatures along the banks, plus wild turkeys and songbirds in the surrounding woods. On the water itself, keep an eye out for herons, loons, and turtles — all common sights on Lake Muskoka in summer.
Somewhere around the first bend of the Hoc Roc River, the world goes quiet. A heron stands still in the shallows. A loon calls across the water. Deer watch from the tree line as you drift by, paddle in hand, nowhere to be.
This is why we do it — not for the photo, for the feeling.
Grab a canoe from our docks and find it for yourself. The waterfront is open from 9AM - 7PM daily.
Drop a 🛶 if this is calling your name, and tag someone you'd want to paddle it with.
