What a night in the bear stand.
On the walk in, Alex and I already had two solid bears in the spot he was hunting. He was fired up and ready to send one—but I told him to stay patient. The sign in that area told a different story… a big one was around.
Over the course of the evening, he passed on 5 bears, including a real nice one with a white chevron that just wouldn’t give him the shot he needed with his bow. Not easy to stay disciplined in a moment like that.
Then it happened.
Out of the timber stepped the bear Alex had been waiting for. At just 10 yards, he drew back—and put the Rage in the cage on an absolute giant.
Huge congrats to Alex from Iowa on tagging a true world-class black bear.
By the end of the night, Alex had seen 11 bears, and to top it all off, we watched two big boars go head-to-head on the quad ride out—with his bruin in the trailer.
This is what it’s all about.
