I’ve been staying in Seaview Suite these past few nights — our suite closest to the ocean — and I still look out in disbelief sometimes.

The water is just… right there.

A few feet away.

It feels a little surreal to sit on the lowest level of the house and watch the ocean move this close to you. The light changes by the minute. The sound of the waves reaches you before you even open the door.

We know what we have here is rare and special. Places built this close to the shoreline simply wouldn’t happen today.

And honestly, even as I write this, I’m still in awe of it.

This place is magical beyond words

This beautiful piece of art was created by Maya, an extremely talented artist who I will work with and learn from. We will also one day host workshops together at Villa Sol and beyond. I’m grateful to know her.

While sitting and watching the ocean go by, I grabbed one of my favourite books by Richard Wagamese: One Drum

I flipped to this page and couldn’t believe it.

There is another story which I may share at some point regarding this piece. But for now, I’ll leave this here.

45 minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay + 45 minute scenic drive along the Sunshine Coast… and you’re here.

You can feel it starting to shift…

The air gets softer
The sun stays longer
And then you remember
how good it feels to be in your body again

Warm days are coming

The kind where you slow down
step into the water
and just… be

This is your reminder
it’s closer than you think

Save this for when you need it 🌿🌊✨

This is closer than most people think.

45 minutes from West Vancouver by ferry,
then one of the most beautiful drives up the Sunshine Coast…

and you’re here.

It’s not a big trip.
It’s a coffee, a slow morning,
and a decision to leave the city for a couple of days.

And what you arrive to isn’t just a place to stay—
it’s something intentionally created.

A different pace.
A different feeling.
A kind of experience most people don’t even know exists this close to home.

DM to book or save this for when you need a reset 🌿

You don’t need a big plan.
Just a pause.

One, two, maybe three nights by the ocean
with someone who gets you.

Slow mornings.
Good conversations.
Space to actually breathe.

Whether it’s a reset, a catch-up,
or just time away from everything else —

this is your place for that.

If this feels like what you need…
send it to her 🤍

Today is World Health Day…

and I invite you to ask yourself this question:

How does it actually feel to be inside your body?

Not what it looks like.
Not how it performs.
Not how it’s perceived.

Just… how it feels.

For a long time, I moved through life being “high functioning.”

Holding a lot.

Doing a lot.

Carrying more than I realized.

And I think many of us do.

We learn to override the signals.
To push past the tension.

To keep going.

Until one day… we can’t ignore it anymore.

What I’ve come to understand — through my own experience and through sound — is that health isn’t always about adding more.

Sometimes it’s about creating space

to listen

-again.

To soften.

To notice.

To feel.

That’s the intention behind what I’m creating at Villa Sol and SOLUNA sound journeys.

A space where nothing is required of you.

Where you don’t have to perform or produce.

Where you can simply be with yourself — as you are.

If this resonates, I’d love to hear what came up for you.

Sometimes the warmest welcome at Villa Sol comes from the wildlife.

We’re lucky to have regular visitors — seals, sea lions, otters, humpbacks, orcas, eagles, and so many birds.

This past Wednesday, it was this eagle. Just off our rocks. One of my best captures yet.

Someone recently asked, “Is this your everyday life?”
And I felt this mix of guilt and pride at the same time.

The land and the ocean are so alive and ever-changing. And knowing our guests get to feel that too… it means everything.

Someone else once asked, “What do you even do there?”
And I guess if you’re used to city life — walking distance to shops, restaurants, noise and stimulation right outside your door — it might seem like there’s not much to do.

But for me, that’s the whole point.

The sounds are different here.
You don’t hear traffic or horns or sirens.
You hear waves hitting the rocks, birds singing, wind moving through the trees.
You see starlit skies and the glow of the moon instead of city lights.

The ocean shifts, the light moves, the wildlife comes and goes — but the sense of wonder never does.

So grateful to experience a healing sound journey oceanside with my beautiful friend, Henrietta Devine.

There are no words for what happens in moments like these — each journey feels personal, intuitive, and exactly what your body needs when you allow yourself to be fully present.

Henrietta is one of the many beautiful souls who will be holding space here at Villa Sol.
More to come. 🤍
