June blossoms bring October apples! It’s harvest time at The Cable House Inn. Come and help yourself to apples! There are 2 varieties. The larger ones are picked for you from the tree in our backyard. They are slightly more tart. The ones growing in the parking lot are tiny but sweeter. Take whatever you want! Please respect the tree.

It was an honour for us to host delegates and have an opportunity to talk about our history and the exciting future of the partnership between Heart’s Content and Valentia. The link began in 1866 with a cable that changed the world and that bond still unites us!

Just over a year ago Valentia was placed on Ireland’s World Heritage Tentative List, the first stage in the long journey towards UNESCO world heritage designation for the Kerry island that helped transform communication across the globe.

I was out after dark getting our new signage mounted in time for Heritage Day. Someone in town set off fireworks as I was finishing up. It was a nice touch! LOL
