Black Cat Mountain Lodge 🐈‍⬛We are a small, family owned and run mountain lodge. Warm weather activities include horseback riding, hiking and sightseeing. In need of a little R & R?

(Formerly Black Cat Guest Ranch)
🏔️We have 15 rooms all facing a fabulous view of the Rocky Mountains.
🗺️Located just outside Brule Alberta, close to many parks including Jasper National Park. You will see many of the species of wildlife which abound on the ranch and in the surrounding woods. You can hike the spectacular Mt. Solomon trail to explore a mountain to its very top. Trails of lesser difficulty lead to equally beautiful lookouts and points of interest, like Solomon's Grave. There is also some excellent white water rafting in the area and in Jasper. In winter you can hike or cross-country ski (weather permitting) on our great trails. In the spring and fall you can participate in murder mystery weekends, painting, photography and writing workshops. Try the Black Cat as a great place for a very productive corporate retreat or family reunion. Check out the ranch for an old-fashioned Christmas or New Year's Eve celebrations. Check out our spa weekends. Participate in outdoor activities to your heart's content, relax in our comfortable lodge, savour the home-cooked flavour of our family-style meals and you will find the Black Cat Ranch is the perfect place for anyone wishing to escape the hectic pace of everyday life and appreciate the possibilities of a mountain wilderness area.

The snow was threatening the valley this morning and dusting the high country. Nothing makes us think of summer memories so fondly as the fist brush of winter in the air.

Look forward to your summer 2027 with a trip to the Black Cat Mountain Lodge

If you're staying at the Black Cat, we can not recommend the short 3.5km walk down to the Athabasca River.

It's a mostly flat and open stroll, which alows you to take in the mountains and sky. Make sure you set aside some time to spend down at the river, as it is as breathtaking as it is peaceful.

Watching a sunrise or sunset from here will change your brain chemistry. When your feet take you back to the lodge, you'll feel like you've earned hot coco, a sweet treat, and your feet up by the fire.

Tomorrow is the Hinton MS bike tour, the wonderful participants mountain bike 90km over 2 days raising funds for Multiple Sclerosis research and support.

They start their day at the Hinton Center at 7am tomorrow morning and make their way towards us and down the Solomon Valley stopping in for lunch at the Lodge. After a hearty rest stop at the Black Cat, they continue on to Kelly's Bath tub in William A. Switzer provincial park. Sunday morning, they will depart from Kelly's bathtub biking towards Hinton finishing at the Hinton Center with a celebratritory BBQ.

We have many years of memories of all the cyclists stopping in for lunch. Some we see year after year good weather or bad. Its looking like a sunny day tomorrow. The mountains are extra spectacular when the sun hits them!

It is an incredibly well organized and beautiful event for a great cause, we are excited to see everyone coming through tomorrow! If you get an opportunity to see them off or support the MS bike tour Hinton, they always greatly appreciate it.

The lodge is looking stunning as always, nestled below Mount Solomon. Its often that the trees and grasses are feeling parched by now. But not this year. The flora is bright as spring still in the Boule range of the eastern Rockies!

Book a trip out here to check out the fall colours soon.
