Press Lake Camp

Press Lake Camp Press Lake is a fly-in camp that you can drive to. Great fishing, miles of water without another bo We have two larger cabins ready to accommodate bigger groups.

Welcome to Press Lake Camp, a modern fishing and hunting camp one hour north of Ignace in Northwestern Ontario. We offer excellent walleye, northern pike and smallmouth bass fishing on a lake which is 73 miles around and loaded with bays, islands and secluded sand beaches. Our Canadian owned and operated camp is the only tourist resort on this wilderness lake. In fact, there are no other buildings

at all on Press Lake - just miles of forest and thousands of fish. Accommodations -> We have seven housekeeping cabins, fully equipped for your enjoyment. Each has a large deck overlooking the lake with a gas grill for the nights when it's just too hot to cook inside. All cabins have sofas, hot and cold running water, microwaves, flush toilets and showers. Bedding, dishes and cooking utensils are supplied. You bring your food, clothes, bath towels and favorite fishing tackle. If you prefer to camp, we have a large campground which will accommodate anything from a motor home to a pup tent. We have flush toilets, sinks, showers and freezer storage available for campers but no electricity or water to the campground. Fishing -> Press Lake Camp is on the famous English River system and that guarantees you excellent walleye, northern pike, whitefish and smallmouth bass fishing. With 73 miles of shoreline and hundreds of islands, Press Lake offers endless fishing adventures for the whole family. Catch your lunch and stop at one of many sand beaches to cook up a walleye feast you'll never forget. Or bring your fish back to camp and use our spotless fish house to clean your catch. You can freeze your fish in your cabin freezer or use one of our community freezers. When you arrive, we give you a map of the lake and mark the hot spots. Ryan and Lindsay can give you advice on where to fish and what's been working that week. You can bring your own boat or rent a boat from us, we have 3 options to choose from - 16' boat with 15hp 2 stroke motor, 16' boat with 20hp 4 stroke motor, or 16' with 25hp 4 stroke motor. We have docks, gas, oil, life jackets, bait, ice and more for your convenience! We want your trip to our camp to be one you will remember - with pleasure. Small Game Hunting ->Resident and nonresident grouse (ruffed & spruce) hunts are available beginning Sept 15. We do not offer a guiding service for hunts. Our road system, and the lack of competition from other hunters in our area combine to assure you a successful hunt. Moose Hunting -> Our bow and gun hunters enjoy a phenomenal success rate on the lake and off the roads leading to camp. Contact us for more information. (NOTE: We can only offer moose hunts to residents of Ontario who have drawn their own moose tag. Guiding service is not available, we are simply providing you with an accommodation for your hunt)

If you have any questions about our camp, services available, or pricing give us a call and we would be happy to help! We can be reached at 807-934-6911. Or you can check out our website at www.presslake.on.ca

We look forward to seeing you for your next stay with us! Your hosts: Ryan, and Lindsay

It's been a hot minute since we posted but we're hoping to be more consistent again. Let's get back into the swing of things with this photo 📸

This is a beautiful 25" walleye our little friend Stetson reeled in while up here on a fun family vacation! You can tell from the smile how proud he was to bring in this big fish!!

Family and lasting memories is what we're all about here at Press Lake Camp and we absolutely love seeing youth getting out there and enjoying the sport! 🎣🐟🌲

How about we show this guy some support!? 👏

🔥 Fire Update: Nearby Fire Successfully Contained 🔥

On July 21, a very small smouldering fire was spotted approximately one mile east of camp by an MNR detection aircraft. Within an hour, two helicopters were on scene—one carrying a crew to assess the fire from the air, while the second began making water drops from a nearby lake.

On July 22, the fire was still listed as Not Under Control on the fire map. We made a few phone calls to learn more about the situation. Although a ground crew wasn’t available until later that evening, helicopter crews flew the fire again around 5:00 p.m. and observed no visible smoke or flames. A ground crew was then sent in to complete a boots-on-the-ground assessment. We were advised that, given the fire’s small size and the recent weather conditions, the risk of significant fire growth was very low.

At no point did we feel camp was under threat. We never saw flames or smoke from camp, and there was very little smoke smell. We watched one helicopter make multiple assessment passes while the other continued water drops, and thankfully the wind was blowing away from camp toward the fire rather than the other way around.

As of this afternoon (July 23), the fire has officially been declared out. ✅

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone involved—from the MNR staff who responded so quickly, to the individual who personally notified us of the fire on July 21, and to the pilots, crew leaders, firefighters, and everyone who took the time to answer our questions along the way. Your professionalism and rapid response did not go unnoticed.

Thank you for helping keep our forests, our camp, and our community safe. 🌲❤️

☀️ This weeks 10 day forecast 🌦️

Some cooler temps and hopefully some rain on the horizon!

The included photo of the view from our deck was taken just now. The smoke continues to come in and out depending on wind strength and direction. We are still very safe from the active fires here at Press Lake Camp! There remains no fires in our area, and restricted fire zone rules are in effect.

Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by the wildfires and we are thankful for the dedication shown by all responding fire crews.

💨🔥 SMOKE AND FIRE UPDATE 🔥💨

Over the last few days the fire situation in Northwestern Ontario has changed a lot and we’ve received many inquiries asking for updates. I figured I’d make one post to help keep everyone in the loop.

First of all, thank you to everyone who has reached out. We are incredibly grateful to be so deeply cared for. 🫶

The next major point is that there are currently no fires threatening Press Lake Camp or access to camp. There are fires both north and south of us, but they remain a great distance away.

There is a fire south of Upsala and another south of Ignace. Both communities are currently safe, but with changing winds, conditions can change quickly. The Lac des Mille Lacs area has been evacuated and there is restricted access to most back roads and waterways in that region. If the wind shifts, Highway 17 could potentially be affected. We’ll continue posting updates here and will contact upcoming guests immediately if anything changes.

The next major question is about the smoke and air quality. The first photo was taken at 6:49 a.m., the second at 10:08 a.m, and the last just now at 11:03. As you can see, conditions changed dramatically in just a few hours. There is now a noticeable smoky smell, even indoors, and visibility has decreased considerably. With the wind and lack of rain, conditions are changing rapidly.

🚫🔥 We are currently in a Restricted Fire Zone. No campfires, open burning, or shore lunch fires are permitted. Shore lunch can still be cooked using a propane burner. If you need propane brought in, please let us know at least one week in advance.

I hope this helps answer some questions, ease a few concerns, and keep everyone informed. We’ll continue sharing updates as conditions change.

🚫🔥 Our region will officially be in a restricted fire zone as of midnight tonight. 🔥🚫

What does this mean?
🚫 no burning of any sort this includes for shorelunch
🚫 no campfires

If you were planning on shore lunch while you are staying with us for the next while, you will need to bring a gas cooker of some sort. If you don’t want to travel with propane, please let us know one to two weeks in advance and we can bring some in for you. Propane supplied at the cabins is for use with the camp BBQs.

🌞🥵 Mother Nature has decided to crank up the thermostat the next few days!

If you’re feeling the heat, you’re definitely not alone. 😅

A few friendly reminders while we ride out this hot spell:
💧 Drink lots of water
⚡ Replenish those electrolytes
🧴 Don’t forget the sunscreen
🧢 Take breaks in the shade
🏊‍♀️ Go for a swim

We’ve been sneaking away for a quick swim whenever we get the chance, and honestly… there’s no better way to cool off than jumping into the lake! 🏊‍♀️🌊

Stay safe, stay cool, and enjoy these beautiful summer days—we’ll see you on the water! ☀️🎣💙

For any of our guests that stop up for breakfast, please note the Silver Dollars change of kitchen hours due to the forecasted heat wave we’re going to be seeing over the next few days.

UPDATE!!!!!!!
Due to forecasted high temperature continuing on Tuesday we will be keeping the kitchen closed for another day. Once again we apologize for the inconvenience

We have made the decision to close our kitchen tomorrow (Saturday, July 11) at 11 AM due to the forecasted hot weather. We will remain closed until Tuesday morning at 7 AM (July 14).

During this time, we will have pre-made sandwiches, cookies, and muffins available in the store.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Best regards,
Andrew & Kathy
