A LITTLE REMINDER ABOUT SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESSES ❤️

Sometimes, we forget just how much small businesses give back to our communities. When you support a small business, you’re not just supporting someone’s dream; you’re helping them support local families, schools, organizations, and community events, too.

Since September, I’ve made approximately 12 donations, with around 10 staying right here in our own community! ❤️

This Tuesday , I will be donating $125 worth of snacks to support the breakfast programs for each school Centerville Academy and Jane Collins Academy, baked cookies and tea buns for seniors free of cost and drop them off to their houses donated to a church auction, contributed to a sensory room, and supported Easter Seals.

My businesses, The Little Indian Bay River House and Silver Aspen , also make a conscious effort to shop local. From groceries and breakfast items for our Airbnb guests to local crafts, gifts, and clothing, we believe in supporting other small businesses whenever we can.

Small businesses can’t say yes to every request, but many of us give back whenever we’re able. We have bills and families to support, too, but we understand the importance of helping one another.

And remember, supporting local doesn’t always mean spending money. Sharing a post, leaving a review, recommending a business, or booking a local stay can make a real difference!

❤️ When you support a small business, you’re often helping support an entire community. Let’s continue supporting the businesses that give back to the places we call home!

Look at this adorable handmade squid made locally! How cute is he?! Newfoundland talent at its finest! ❤️

This little fella is now proudly on display at The Little Indian Bay River House adding a little local charm if he was a REAL squid, he wouldn’t last long around here! He’d be coming home and would made into a plate of homemade squid rings before he knew what happened! 😂🦑

We love showcasing local talent and keeping a little Newfoundland tradition and character in our house. ❤️

🎶🪕This ugly stick has become one of the most loved items at The Little Indian Bay River House, and I haven’t even left the house since we opened! 😂❤️

Every second or third person who messages me, especially those travelling with kids, mentions how much they love it!

I absolutely love how something so simple, so traditional, and so Newfoundland can spark so much interest and excitement. 🥰

Here at The Little Indian Bay River House, we try to keep things as traditional as possible, celebrating the little pieces of Newfoundland culture that make us who we are. Sometimes, it’s the simplest things that create the best memories! ❤️

Today, I finally got the chance to display both of my awards at home, and I couldn’t be prouder. ❤️

At the Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce event, I had the opportunity to say a few words, and yes, I cried. 🥹 I was overwhelmed with emotion, gratitude, and pride. Sometimes you don’t realize just how much something means to you until you’re standing there taking it all in.

I am incredibly grateful to everyone who nominated me and thought I was deserving of these recognitions. As a small business owner, you put so much of yourself into what you do, often without knowing if it’s making a difference. Moments like these remind me why I keep going.

I’m displaying these awards here at home, where I can look at them and remind myself that hard work, dedication, and a little bit of heart can take you a long way. ❤️

I am so proud of how far I’ve come, and maybe next year I’ll have the opportunity to add another one to my collection! 😉🏆
