Join us as we celebrate the grand opening of the newly revitalized Mary Ann Falls Trail!

Experience this renewed trail during Cape Breton Island’s Waterfall Season with a guided group hike through landscapes of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Follow a section of the original Cabot Trail route as you make your way to the stunning Mary Ann Falls, one of the park’s most beloved waterfalls.

This moderate 13.6 km return hike offers scenic views, local history, and the chance to experience one of Cape Breton Island’s newest hiking adventures! 🥾🌲

Over the past several years, the Ingonish Development Society, along with community partners, Parks Canada and Victoria County, has been working toward a long-term vision for Freshwater Cove as a safe, welcoming, and accessible community gathering space.

As conversations and feedback continue within the community, the vision for the site continues to evolve over time. The concepts and plans shared over the years are intended to help guide future improvements and ongoing discussions around the space.

This summer, you’ll begin to see a few more gradual improvements at the site, including cleanup work, trail and site maintenance, a new picnic shelter, a seasonal porta potty, and other small upgrades to help support safe and sustainable community use of the area.

Freshwater Cove remains a place for everyone to enjoy — whether that’s gathering with family, attending community events, swimming, or simply taking in the view.

We’re looking forward to sharing more updates and opportunities to get involved throughout the summer.
