This little 512 was renovated in 2014. A piece of history from when the Canadian government blocked Inuit from the land - and brought small prefab houses to live in.
It’s a bittersweet marker of time passing.
The sod roof is a celebration of 1,000 years of friendly trade between Vikings and Inuit in South Baffin Island. As remnants show in an excavation on the South Baffin shore.
