We’ve missed Jasper. It feels good to say we’re coming back.

We're rebuilding it to feel like the HI Jasper you loved—with a few thoughtful upgrades. The new building will use stronger materials, have expanded staff housing, and a layout that makes shared spaces more comfortable and inviting. We’re also planning to bring back the café and create open common areas that make it easier for travellers and locals to connect. Construction is set to start this fall, and if everything goes to plan, we’ll be ready to welcome you back next year.

It’s a big project, and we’ll be sharing updates as things move along. Keep checking back!

Dear friends,

On behalf of my team, thank you for the amazing outpouring of love and support. Your messages and well wishes have been a reminder of the amazing community we are a part of.

We have spent the last week at our sister hostel, HI Nordegg Shunda Creek Wilderness Hostel, resting, reflecting, and planning our next steps. As of today, some of us have taken on roles at other HI Canada hostels, others are off to new adventures, and a few of us are heading back to Jasper to help with cleanup and rebuilding.

The last 10 days have been tough, but the generosity and kindness we've received have been incredible.

🍔 A heartfelt thank you to our amazing friends at HI Banff Alpine Centre who went above and beyond by raising money at their community BBQ. We are especially grateful to the staff who generously donated all their tips.💜

🥧 We also would like to thank our Board of Directors for the gift of delicious pies and cakes for our team. The sugar rush was welcome.

🍳 A special thanks to Nordegg Miners' Cafe for treating our team to delicious coffee and breakfast.

🧦 A big shoutout to the team at HI Calgary City Centre for their generous donation of clothing items.

❤️ Lastly, a very special thank you to HI Canada for taking care of us during this time. You supported us when we were most vulnerable, and we are truly grateful.


To my staff, you are the most wonderful team I've had the pleasure of working with. You flawlessly evacuated all 200 guests from our hostel, and did an extraordinary job. In the wake of it all, your strength and resilience have been an inspiration.

To the people of Jasper, our hearts are with you always. We can’t wait to be back when the time is right.

This morning we received the devastating news that our hostel, HI Jasper, was destroyed by the wildfires.

In the 5 short years since it first opened, it quickly became the home for an endless number of unforgettable moments and cherished friendships. We will miss it more than words can express.

We’re incredibly grateful that all our guests and staff were safely evacuated, and we thank everyone for their support and thoughts during this extremely difficult time.

It’s starting to feel like summer at long last! ☀️🏔️ We have so many amazing routes in walking distance from Have a walk over to old fort point and Lake Beauvert and enjoy the stunning views. As always be careful of wildlife during calving season and respect the park! 🏔️🌲

Today is a special day at HI Jasper 🎉

is celebrating her 8th birthday with HI today !

She is such a wonderful person, always full of energy and helpful, always smiling, making everyone feel loved, understood and seen !
She is a Bingo queen and a master when it comes to karaoke !

We love you Susu, get ready for your 8th anniversary HI cake ! 🍰
