As we take a look back at the former stewards of the Hotel Eldorado, this week, we turn an eye to the Nixon family.

Throughout their lives, Jim and Diana's children Karlee, Jessee, Kyle and Brenna were all part of the day-to-day operations of the hotel. Each had their customary starts in the hotel kitchen dish pit, with equal opportunity to work their way up the ranks.

You'd be hard-pressed to visit the hotel on any given day and not run into at least one friendly Nixon face.

Resilience is a true part of our story.

In 1989, just weeks after moving to our new home, a devastating fire struck the hotel. But that challenge did not defeat us. Owner Jim Nixon believed deeply in our heritage.

Within days of the blaze, he vowed to rebuild the property in its exact original architectural style.

Thanks to former owner John Hindle, who stepped in to lend the original blueprints, that vision quickly became reality. We proudly reopened our doors to the community on St. Patrick's Day in 1990.

Even now, our guests and associates say they can still feel the warm, welcoming energy of the old hotel as they walk through our hallways.

Pimm's Cup: A favorite of former owner John Hindle. He loved waterskiing and a friendly wager, and this refreshing drink was always the prize.

El Capozzi Negroni: A tribute to the epic 1950s and 60s lakehouse parties hosted by the Capozzi family just down the road, famous for their competitive 'Italian vs. Greek' volleyball matches.

Brave Horse Manhattan: A nod to Winston Churchill, whose portrait has hung on our walls for decades. This bold drink honors his favorite spirit: classic whiskey.
