Visitors are advised that there will be a beach closure and temporary parking restrictions in the North Rustico Beach area of PEI National Park, including adjacent parking lots and along Gulf Shore Parkway West, during the week of August 17th due to a permitted activity.

• Monday August 17: full closure of North Rustico Beach and facilities, from 6 am to 10 pm, including North Rustico Beach, parking lots (East and West), washroom facilities and beach access stairs.

• NOTE: the Gulf Shore Parkway West will remain open to the travelling public but there will be temporary stops and delays to traffic, cyclists and pedestrians throughout the morning. No roadside parking will be permitted in the closure area.

• NOTE: in case of inclement weather, this closure is scheduled to occur Tuesday August 18.

Visitors are asked to follow all signage and to respect barricades that will be in place.

Parks Canada staff and traffic personnel will be on site. Impacts to the travelling public are expected to be minimal.

Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and to consider alternate beach locations during this period.

The harbours are buzzing again! 🦞. Fall setting day!!!

At 6 a.m., Island fishers headed out with their first load of traps. Now, they’re back at the harbour reloading their boats before heading out again. With each PEI fishing licence allowing between 250 and 300 traps, depending on the fishing area, it takes multiple trips throughout the day to get them all out to sea.

A temporary beach closure and parking restrictions are in effect for the North Rustico Beach area this week due to a permitted event. Gulf Shore Parkway West will remain open to vehicles, but no roadside parking will be permitted in the closure area.

📍Tuesday, July 28 – Parking restrictions at North Rustico Beach
📍Wednesday, July 29 – Full closure of North Rustico Beach and facilities, from 7 am to 10 pm, including North Rustico Beach, parking lots (East and West), washroom facilities and beach access stairs.
📍Thursday, July 30 – Parking restrictions at North Rustico Beach
