Just made Sausage Penne for supper! 🍝

I may have gotten a little carried away with the garlic. 🧄😂 Pretty sure they can smell me over in PEI by now. It’s no longer in the food; it has seeped into my bloodstream and is currently escaping through my pores.

At this point, I’m basically 50% garlic. 😂

Eeeek!

I hope my son doesn’t mind me sharing these pics from his hike with his girlfriend on the West Coast Trail! These are some of the more boring ones. 😂🤣 Aren’t they stunning?!

I’m so thrilled for him that he found such an amazing partner who shares his love of adventure tourism, even if that adventure tourism happens to be in Alberta, where he is currently living his absolute best life! 😜

I have to admit, I’m a little surprised to discover that there are places almost as pretty as PEI. 😂🤣😂 Who knew?!

But don’t worry — I’m perfectly happy right here living my best life in little ’ole NS/PEI, surrounded by incredible scenery, amazing friends, and all the wonderful people I’ve had the privilege of meeting through running a cottage rental in PEI.

So I guess I’ll reluctantly admit it: there’s a pretty big world out there beyond PEI. 😉😂

I truly am blessed to live where I do, and I’m incredibly grateful for this life and for all the amazing people who have become part of it. ❤️

Now… back to admiring these photos and pretending I’m not a tiny bit jealous. 😂🥾🌲🏔️

Here is some info on the 75 km Trail from Google:

“The West Coast Trail is widely considered one of the most physically and technically demanding backcountry hikes in North America, challenging even experienced backpackers.
Rather than relying on high altitude or extreme elevation gain, the difficulty comes from its relentless, rugged, and technical terrain.
Key Challenges

The Ladders: Hikers must climb and descend more than 100 wooden ladder systems—some vertical and dozens of feet high—often while carrying a heavy multi-day pack.

Deep Mud and Roots: Expect miles of knee-deep mud, slippery tree roots, and decaying, uneven boardwalks.

Tough Obstacles: The 75-kilometer (47-mile) route also requires wading fast-flowing rivers, crossing via cable cars, and scrambling over barnacle-covered beach boulders.

Unpredictable Weather: Located in a temperate rainforest, heavy rain, wind, and coastal fog can occur even in peak summer, increasing the risk of hypothermia and slick conditions.

Parks Canada
The Southern Section: The stretch between Walbran Creek and the Gordon River trailhead is notoriously grueling, often taking 2 to 3 days just to cover 22 kilometers.

Who is the Hike For?
Duration: Most hikers take 6 to 8 days to complete the full point-to-point trail.
Experience Required: It is not recommended as a first overnight backpacking trip. Participants should be comfortable with multi-day wilderness travel, heavy loads, and slow, technical footwork. “

Just a little reminder.

Just a little reminder.

Surf conditions in PEI National Park today are considered dangerous. Entering the water is not recommended and people are asked to follow surfguard instructions.

Rip currents form in these conditions and are a hazard on PEI beaches. Rip currents occur when waves break near the shoreline, piling up water between the breaking waves and the beach. One of the ways this water returns to sea is by forming a rip current; a narrow stream of water moving swiftly away from shore. The danger is when swimmers become trapped in the rapid current and are swept offshore.

Caught in a rip current?
- Stay calm. Attract attention. Conserve energy
- Tread water. Waves can assist you back to shore.
- If that doesn’t work, swim parallel to shore out of the current, toward the breaking waves.

Surf conditions can be found on PEI Now using a map and pin system: parks.canada.ca/peinow

Visit parks.canada.ca/pei-beaches for information on beach safety including rip currents.
