Join us on October 3 at our waterfront for an amazing collaboration with Killarney Provincial Park & Beam Paints
It's time for one last hurrah at the Killarney Observatory... at least for this year. This weekend, come celebrate Killarney's incredible dark skies with us, before we close the dome until next summer!
Here's the plan:
Friday, October 2
⭐ 7:00PM at the Amphitheatre, knowledge carrier Will Morin will open the evening in a good way and will share an Anishinaabe perspective on astronomy.
🌌 8:00PM at the Main Beach, join us for a tour of the night sky. Against the backdrop of George Lake, travel from constellation to constellation, picking up star stories and night sky orientation skills as you go. We recommend bringing a camp chair or beach blanket for seating.
Saturday, October 3
🎨 2:00PM at the Point Grondine Park Waterfront, come paint the night sky with Lyndsay Taibossigai from Beam Paints. Lyndsay is an educator and watercolour artist from M'Chigeeng First Nation. All supplies, including a free art kit and art lesson, are provided with a valid Point Grondine day pass.
🔭 8:00PM at the Observatory, come one, come all to a gathering of astronomers of all levels as we take a peek at the stars with guests from the Sudbury Astronomy Club and their telescopes. A unique opportunity to see the stars through many different lenses.
