**ANNOUNCEMENT**

The Leadership Committee and the Canadian Cancer Society has decided that it is best to hold this event moving forward every two years instead of annually. We hope you will join us in 2019 when the Slopes for Hope Kimberley hopes to return.

But we still need your help. We all know cancer doesn’t take a year off. We are asking you to continue to stand with us in the fight against cancer in 2018.

How can you continue the fight?
1. Consider hosting an Independent Fundraising Event. Please visit www.cancerevents.ca for details and to sign up.
2. Volunteer! We have volunteer needs in communities across BC year round. Please visit cancervolunteer.ca for full details.
3. Make a gift to the Cancer Society and tell us where to invest your gift. Visit www.cancer.ca to find out more.

We hope you continue to support the Canadian Cancer Society in 2018 as you wait for the return of Slopes for Hope Kimberley in 2019.

**Thank you for helping us change the face of cancer**

Shubha Dasgupta became a caregiver – at just 14 years old - to the woman who had raised him, his grandmother, when she was diagnosed with advanced stage cancer. “My grandmother raised me and was my heart and soul,” Shubha says. “After her cancer diagnosis, she became my inspiration to give back so others don’t have to go through this.”

Now a father of two, Shubha has been actively involved with our signature fundraiser, Relay for Life, since 2010 and is helping raise money for those diagnosed with cancer. “At Relay for Life there’s a sense of involvement and community to really make an impact on the lives of those living with cancer. What brought me here was my grandmother, but what keeps me here are all the amazing survivors I’ve met along the way,” Shubha says. “

As Shubha knows all too well, the emotional, financial and practical challenges of a cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming. And sometimes, simply getting to cancer treatment appointments can be a difficult task. With the gift of Give a Ride, you can help provide access to safe and reliable transportation for people who are receiving lifesaving treatments and are unable to get to those treatments on their own.

In an effort to create a world where no one fears cancer, we invest in the most promising cancer research across all cancer types. Last year, 61% of our research across the country was designated to target specific types of cancer. The other 39% was invested in understanding common aspects of multiple or all cancer types.
