Get 2-6 players together for a quick nine and shoot the lowest score to win. With a little strategy and a little luck, you might be able to score well under par!

With phases like teeing off, lining up your final putt, and shaving off strokes, this game is perfect for a rainy day when your tee time gets cancelled. Be sure to check it out!

this week considers an ancient playing piece: the marble.

Although some may classify it as a toy, marbles are part of many ancient games - whether they are still played, they changed into board games of today, or are lost to the pages of history. Marbles can be seen in historical sites all over the world, from Ancient Egypt to Mesopotamia to Pakistan and India's Indus Valley Civilization. From these ancient civilizations, marbles spread across Asia, Africa, and beyond - reaching across Europe to Britain back during Medieval times.

Over the centuries, marbles have been made of, well, marble and many other sources like clay, rock, limestone, and brass. In 1846, Germany had an invention in glassblowing that allowed for a more industrious process in making marbles, which has led to the glass based product known today.

A game of marbles shows how easy it is to connect and have fun with friends and the community. A few small round objects is all it takes to bring some joy and recreation to an afternoon. Since ancients times, marbles and the likes have been their own game, have become parts in board games like Mancala or Chinese Checkers, been talked about in Shakespearean plays, and were even one of the first inductees to the Toy of the Year catalogue at the National Museum of Play back in 1998.

So, although we love our complicated strategy games of current day, it is always fun to remember how simple gaming can be with things like a deck of cards, some cups or tokens, a flat surface, and even a few marbles as long as you apply some creativity to the situation.

Friday Feature No. 49 πŸ–ŠπŸ“·

There's only 10 minutes.
You and your Bomb Defusal Team must neutralize the threat.
Do you have what it takes or will your ship get overrun and explode?

In Fuse, you work as a team to defuse as many bombs as possible in under 10 minutes. Roll dice, match colour patterns, build towers and pyramids, add or subtract the right number, and you might just defuse enough! But watch out for Fuse cards that remove some of your hard work - and be sure to share the dice since unused dice each round hinder your efforts.

In this game that truly requires fast thinking and teamwork, you and your bomb defusing team will be tested over and over again as you try higher difficulties and harder cards.

this week looks at some history of board game delivery.

Here at The Board Bartender, we love to deliver games because it delivers fun to family and friends in our community. Back in World War 2 though, the British government delivered Board games to their soldiers that were prisoners of war in N**i Germany. Even though fun is a big part of board games, these games had far more usefulness to the POWs.

Edited copies of Monopoly that British soldiers received contained metal files, real money, compasses, and a silk map (resistant to disintegration like the usual paper ones) to get out of Germany. The best part - it worked! Some soldiers successfully escaped the N**i regime using tools delivered by board game.

While our games are far less useful for escaping imprisonment, we do have hundreds of games that can do the delivering fun part. From Monopoly to war games and everything else in between, be sure to check out our website for fun games and you can think about the creativity of the British government next time we deliver you some fun!

One of the most popular party games of all time, Cards Against Humanity (CAH), has some fun about it and the company behind the game.

CAH started as a fun game between a group of eight old high school friends who wanted to play games at their annual New Year's Eve parties. They created multiple games but the best one stuck out as "Cardenfreude" - later CAH. The game started as each person printing out their funny queries and responses on construction paper throughout the year.

Satisfied with the result, the eight founders wanted to share the game far and wide but didn't have any manufacturing so they released the game under a Creative Commons License. This technically means that CAH is actually free to download and print to be able to play the game! So if you have access to cheap printing, some construction paper, and scissors, you can have your own copy of CAH comparable to the original copy.

With a successful Kickstarter, CAH was eventually born and an immediate hit in the board game community with half a million copies sold in the first couple years of production. Since then, the company behind the game with those 8 founders has always had fun in keeping their projects weird from creating a Writer's Room to constantly update their cards, contemplating destroying an original Picasso as a marketing stunt, and successfully selling almost 200,000$ worth of actual bull dung for a Black Friday sale!

However weird the ploy, it always seems to work as CAH has remained a staple in party nights all over. Who knows what oddity they will come up with next?

Friday Feature No. 47 πŸ–ŠπŸ“·

Friday game nights are all about board game classics! Tonight we look at a classic party game, Taboo - a game about avoiding the taboo words on the card.

Split your party into two teams to test your tongue with Taboo. Deliver hints without using any of the words on the card - or you'll get buzzed and forfeit a point! - to guide your team to the featured word at the top. If anyone on your team guesses it, score a point! See how many you can get in the time limit.

Teams take turns with everyone taking a stab at clue-giving and answer-guessing. Play to a high score after everyone takes a turn or to the first team reaching a set point goal. Either way, there are tons of cards and Taboo can make you have a hoot all night long with the same team, or switching it up throughout the night.

Take a stab at how you would explain the pictured cards to your friends in only a few seconds - without using any of the featured words! Let us know your verbal tactics in the comments below.

Ever wondered why Essen is on the Pandemic board? We dig into this Easter Egg on today's .

When Matt Leacock, the mind behind the hit co-op board game Pandemic wanted to represent central Europe or even specifically Germany, you'd imagine he'd include Berlin as the city. Instead, he chose Essen as a clever Easter egg. Essen hosts the largest annual board game fair in the world! Coming full circle, there's a game called Essen which is about selling board games and it features many Easter eggs itself.

Know of any other board game Easter eggs?

Friday Feature No. 46 πŸ–ŠπŸ“·

Based in a fairy tale setting created by Alana Joli Abbott, The Fox in The Forest is a trick taking card game for only 2 players. Over the course of the game, use your cards cunningly to score more points than your opponent to become victorious.

Each round, players play cards from their hand to win, or not win, a trick while following many of the standard rules in trump based card games. After the 13 tricks, tally the score. Play more rounds until the final score, usually 21, is reached to declare a victor.

Seems easy right? Well this forest has a few tricks up its own sleeve. Every odd numbered card has special abilities that change the leader of the next trick, who wins a trick, how points are scored, and more! Even the coveted fox in the forest can change the trump card in the middle of a round!

So like we posted about yesterday, there are many different card games to try out. Take a stab at The Fox in The Forest for your next date night, or add it to your next rental to have a quick 2-player game available when needed. Either way, be sure to have fun this Friday night!
