🪰🌶️ THE RED LIGHT ERA HAS RETURNED 🌶️🪰 The mayflies heard The Grove Motel was entering its red light era again and apparently RSVP’d immediately.

For the next little while, our iconic red exterior lights will once again glow across Colchester like a retro roadside fever dream… all in the name of keeping the fish flies slightly less obsessed with us. Will it work perfectly? Absolutely not. Will it look insanely cool? Also yes.

Some call it mayfly season. We call it ✨atmosphere✨.

It’s a step back in time for The Grove The Grove Hotel Kingsville ❤️

Learn about the fascinating people and the vintage architecture and landmarks of Kingsville’s past in our "Step Back in Time" tour. FEATURING: 12 Main Street East – Constructed in 1885

“KINGSVILLE GOES WET!”

That was the headline on the front page of The Kingsville Reporter in 1942 when the Local Option By-law (prohibiting the sale of liquor) was repealed.
When the Local Option was voted on and passed in 1910, the manager of the Kings Hotel (formerly the Pastorius House) kept his vow to board up the establishment in protest. New management reopened the now “dry” hotel shortly afterwards. From time to time, the proprietor would be “charged with selling beer that contained more than the regulation 2½ per cent of alcohol.”
