Scam Alert!! If anybody receives this as a tag or a post it is completely bogus, nothing to do with the lodge and highly questionable.
The link is probably suspect and even if it's just somebody trying to sell shirts, they didn't ask us about it.
Beware and avoid!!
We apologize for any confusion these pirates may have caused!

Well the vacancy in Victoria Cottage from the last post has been filled, but we are still getting some calls so I thought I should let everybody know.
This awesome photo from one of our night duty people, Kim Hansen will hopefully give you something nice to look at instead.
Please watch the vacancy page at yellowpointlodge.com for any other opportunities that may arise.
Thanks to everyone for their interest.

And now...a word from our sponsor!
If you've ever wanted to organize that two day getaway with a group of friends or family, plan a little retreat, sewing or music circle, or have a huge cabin to yourself, this is your lucky day.
We just got a cancellation for all six rooms in Victoria Cottage for two nights on January 4th. The cabin is fairly 'cozy' with washbasins in most rooms and the shower and washroom facilities 'down the hall' but it's a comfy spot, with a nice ocean view and features great value.
For more information on the cottage please click here: https://yellowpointlodge.com/victoria-cottage and then explore the site if you're not familiar with our lodge.
The six rooms can be rented individually, but when we have a big fun group or family opportunity like this, I like to let everyone know, thanks.
Now, back to our regularly scheduled programing....

More blatant advertising: however, if you have a group of friends, couples or singles and were trying to make plans for three days coming up on October 6th, we just got a cancellation for all three rooms in Three Oaks cottage, so you might like this ad.
They each have a private washroom with a shower and share a common living room with a new, efficient, glass door fireplace insert.
There is more information under the 'rooms and cabins' section at 'yellowpointlodge.com' and our office will be standing by for your call, anytime between 8:00 AM and 10:30 PM, seven days a week.
This space is 're-bookable' so you could start a tradition right now!
There are a few other, more rustic spaces that just became available in early October as well.
Hopefully, we'll see you here!

Sandi wants to remind everyone to check the dates for their next stay on their confirmations when they receive them this season.
Due to the funny calendar in our Western world, the dates of the months and days of the week shift one space each year. ie: September 30th is a Tuesday this year, but in 2026 the 30th is on Wednesday. This means that after a few years, everybody's days of the week get shifted to an earlier date, one day per year. So, after five years, what is Tuesday, Sept. 30th this year will be Tuesday , Sept. 25th, nearly a week earlier. If we let this carry on, soon our Summer guests would be arriving in the Spring.
So, every few years we have to 're-set' the calendar and shift everybody's stay to 'later' dates, in order to keep your stay at roughly the same time of the month and year. (for example, the 'last week of July') We are re-booking people now for next year, so this is when that will apply.

Please note that this date shift applies to your 're-booked' reservation for next year. Your arrival date is adjusted only if you are booked to check-in after Labour Day, 2026!

So, please listen to Sandi, have a look and take note of the arrival date that is on the confirmation for your arrival, next year.

Every time we do the 'shift', somebody inevitably arrives a week early, so we'd like to avoid that by making sure you're aware of this necessary adjustment we need to make in order to adhere to the Julian calendar.
We thought about adopting the Mayan calendar, which would solve this, (there's one on the wall in the office) but it would probably be more trouble. Thanks in advance for your prudence.

If anybody has read the new, Autumn edition newsletter that is available at yellowpointlodge.com or our lobby, you'll know that last week featured the annual talent show, organized by our guests, to raise funds for the Friends of Yellow Point's M.G. Hill memorial education fund.
There were a number of entertaining performances including comedy, poetry and several musical performances, (including a kazoo band). The first photo is a hybrid performance with Suzanne playing her violin while April produced an original artwork on the spot, in front of everybody, (here seen in it's early stages, last names withheld for privacy concerns.)
The participants were too numerous to mention but special thanks have to go to Jane, Barb and Bill for getting everybody organized and hosting such a fun event that saw the main lounge pretty much filled to capacity.
At press time, the proceeds from this event alone were in the nieghbourhood of $2,500 which will all go to the scholarship fund that our staff people who have to pay for school can apply for every fall.
Many thanks to Lynnda, Pieta and Maureen for keeping the fund organized and many more thanks to all the participants, spectators and donors who made this heart warming event possible.

Here we all are being safe again. (please see previous 'fire department' post).
This is some of our staff people who recently went through another round of 'Basic First Aid' training with St. John Ambulance in Nanaimo. (the photo was obviously taken right after the 'arm bandaging' segment.)
We have a total of 17 people certified here now, with another class booked for November when more people will be free.
I'd highly recommend this course to any and everyone. We've been offering them to our staff since the mid 1980's and I have used my training several times. It is very good to have an idea of what to do in case of an emergency, and believe me, the 'other person' involved will be very happy that you took this one day course.
It is worth it just for the hands on training with the A.E.D.s that are showing up in more and more places these days and was a fun way to spend a day with some 'like minded' people.
Please check 'sja.ca', sign up, have fun and save a life!

Don't panic, this is actually a good thing. A couple of weeks ago, our local 'pearls of the community', the North Oyster Volunteer Fire Department had their 'Tuesday night fire practice' at the lodge for the annual 'familiarization and orientation' tour for new and existing members.
They thank us for the opportunity to learn more about what they may have to face in the event of a fire, but we are much more appreciative to them for taking the time and making the effort to become more aware of our facilities and systems in case that day of all days to be prevented arrives.
I thought this would be a good photo to kick-off July with as it is now time for everyone to double down on fire safety awareness and water conservation measures.
Thanks to all our guests and staff for being prudent and aware and many thanks to the N.O.F.D. for standing at the ready.

What is that cheeky little Colleen up to now? Yikes, she's making a fun and festive cake with her sister, Tara for our guests to help celebrate our wonderfully awesome country on Canada Day!

Look at that! Ever her little elbow is 'up' a bit! Best wishes to all of our lovely guests from both sides of the border on this day when we recognize everything that is right about this country.

Again, rest assured that all of our cabins are 100% made in Canada and pretty much all the staff are, too! Happy Canada Day, everyone!
