A year of planning, undone in a few days. That's what wildfire season did to Ashley and Alexandre, whose wedding at La Casa was cancelled just before they were set to say "I do" With 40 guests already on their way from Ontario, Quebec, B.C., and as far as France.
A Reddit suggestion led them to us. We've only been open a few weeks, so we had the space and in 48 hours, their family helped them rebuild the whole weekend. We were able to welcome nearly their entire party to stay with us, and this Saturday, after their ceremony at St. Andrew's in Vernon, we'll host their reception here on Wood Lake.
We're honoured to be a small part of saving their day. But like Ashley said herself, a wedding is a small thing right now. Our hearts and prayers are with everyone along Westside Road and across BC, the families who've lost homes, and the crews working around the clock across the province.
Okanagan people show up for each other. This week reminded us of that.
Congratulations, Ashley and Alexandre. 🤍
