Trilliums are blooming by the Cowichan River. These amazing little plants can live up to 25 years, but don’t pick the flowers! It might take the plant years to recover or that might be the end of it. Enjoy the sight of these harbingers of spring where they grow and let them be.

Really wonderful to have Little Beach, right next to the cottage, protected as parkland for everyone to enjoy! Janice and Ken Hiles deserve a ton of gratitude from the Lake Cowichan community and from all of the visitors who enjoy the Cowichan River.

Some good news! Thank you to the Cowichan Tribes for their efforts in restoring the health of the river.

Thousands of Chinook salmon have returned to spawn in the Cowichan River this fall, and biologists are hopeful that the run is bouncing back from near extinction in 2009.
