For National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to reflect and learn more about the history of the land we are fortunate to call home.

Long before Lake Louise became known by its present name, the Stoney Nakoda knew these waters as Ho-run-num-nay, meaning “Lake of the Little Fishes.”

The Lake Louise area has been used by Indigenous Peoples for millennia for sustenance, ceremony, trade and travel.

Today, we recognize the longstanding connection between the Stoney Nakoda people and these lands and waters, and take a moment to listen, learn and reflect.
