Planning a stay in Lakefield? There’s no shortage of charming places to explore during your visit to the Kawarthas.

Step back in time at Lang Pioneer Village for the Museum, now open for the season in nearby Keene. Wander through historic buildings, meet costumed interpreters, and experience life in the 1800s. The museum also hosts special events throughout the year, making every visit a little different. Right next door visit Hope Mill, a beautifully restored water-powered saw mill that offers a glimpse into the area’s milling history and scenic riverside views.

On Thursday mornings, take a leisurely stroll along the beautiful Lakefield Trail to the Lakefield Farmers’ Market, just a short walk from The Village Inn. Browse fresh local produce, baked goods, handmade items, and more while enjoying the welcoming small-town atmosphere.

Looking to explore a little farther? The Canadian Canoe Museum is just a short drive away. Take the scenic River Road route and enjoy views of the countryside and the historic Peterborough Lift Lock along the way, one of the highest hydraulic lift locks in the world.

Note to our guests, the municipal parking lot beside the Inn will be unavailable during the market on Sunday morning. Guest parking is available behind the Inn.

The Lakefield Farmers’ Market returns with its annual pop-up Mother’s Day Market on Sunday, May 10, taking place right beside The Village Inn from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Stop by to browse a selection of your favourite market vendors, pick up fresh baking, and find the perfect handcrafted gift for Mom from talented local artisans.

Peterborough Musicfest has announced the first two concerts for the 2026 season, and it’s already shaping up to be a great one!

Canadian rock legend Gowan will kick things off on opening night, Saturday, June 27.

Then later in the season, crowd favourite Dwayne Gretzky brings their high-energy mix of hits from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s on Wednesday, July 29.

With free concerts every Wednesday and Saturday night in Del Crary Park, it’s the perfect addition to your summer plans.

Just a short drive from Downtown Lakefield. Stay with us and make a night of it in the Kawarthas.
