Due to a planned Hydro One outage, comfort stations, the trailer fill and dumping station, and all water taps will be out of service from approximately 8:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 18th, 2026.

A boil water advisory will be in effect starting at 2:00p.m. on Sunday, October 18th, 2026.

Say hi to Kristen! 👋

This is Kristen's first full season at . If you've camped or visited the park this season, you've likely seen her at the Discovery Centre during the peak season, and the Gatehouse during the spring and fall!

Her most useful tip for incoming campers is to stop at the Gatehouse. Kristen says she loves to see the smiling faces and confirm your booking information!

She recommends visitors stop by Twist's Outlet for the best scooped ice cream around, and her favourite animal found in the park is a Wood Duck!

If you plan to visit the park before we close for the season, you'll find Kristen at the Gatehouse who can assist with selling hardwood, kindling, ice, and more!

We are now partway into October and that means that temperatures are dropping. ❄️

With a drop temperatures, comes a lot of animal movement as they prepare for winter, particularly reptiles and amphibians. 🐢

Herptiles, like snakes and frogs, are on the move this time of year in search of a final pre-winter meal or a site to hibernate.🐍

These critters are often found on roadways at this time of year because they retain heat and provide a great tanning bed for cold-blooded creatures looking to warm up. ☀️

Make sure to be on the lookout and drive cautiously when travelling through the Park this time of year to help us protect our wildlife! 🐸

Are you thinking about heading out for a hike to enjoy the fall colours? Here are a few tips to ensure your fall hiking trip is a memorable one, in the best way possible!

To have a great hike in the fall you should:
🌦️ Know the weather before you go to avoid getting caught in any storms
🧤 Wear layers to help adjust to temperature changes throughout the day
🥾 Wear appropriate hiking shoes, fallen leaves can make trails very slick

Hopefully, these tips will help you enjoy a wonderful fall hiking trip!

Happy from Charleston Lake Provincial Park!

Ontario Parks, like Charleston Lake, help to protect a variety of different habitats across our Province. Habitats are composed of different living and non-living organisms that provide species with the food, water, and shelter they need to survive.

Some of these habitats are incredibly unique or rare and provide critical homes for rare species or species at risk. Habitats are the homes wildlife live in and when visiting should be treated with respect.

Some ways to help us protect our critical habitats at Charleston Lake are:
🚯 don't litter and pickup any garbage that you find
🐕 keep your pets on a leash so as not to disturb native wildlife
🌱 stay on pre-made public trails to avoid damage to fragile ecosystems

Meet Laurence! This is Laurence's second season as a Discovery Student at ! 🍃

His most useful tip? Wear good boots when hiking trails, as they can get very muddy! 🥾 Speaking of trails, Laurence recommends visitors hike the Shoreline Trail!

The coolest thing Laurence has seen at work is a Dusky Bolete, 🍄 and his favourite animal found in the park is the Common Loon.

You can find Laurence at the Discovery Centre on weekends throughout the remainder of the season. Make sure to stop by to say hello, and learn more about the park!

Forgot your extension cord? We've got you covered!

Did you know we offer electrical extension cords for visitor use with a refundable deposit? Whether you left yours at home or just can't quite reach the outlet, you can sign out one from us at the Gatehouse!

Available options:
⚡ 30 amp - $100 refundable deposit
⚡ 15 amp - $50 refundable deposit

The full deposit is returned when the extension cord is brought back to the Gatehouse in good condition.

Don't let a short cord put a damper on your camping setup! 🔌

Come check out Charleston Lake Provincial Park's fall foliage from the water! 🍂 We have plenty of equipment still available for rent.

Here are our rental rates (HST included)...

2-Seat Canoes, 3-Seat Canoes, and Tandem Kayaks:
4 hours - $24.00
8 hours - $28.00
24 hours - $40.00

Single Kayaks and Stand-Up Paddleboards:
4 hours - $18.00
8 hours - $22.00
24 hours - $34.00

Each canoe, kayak, and stand-up paddleboard rental is available through a first come, first served basis. Each rental includes life jackets, paddles, and a safety bucket.
