that in the 1970s there was only one active Bald Eagle nest in Essex County?

Now, we have at least 3 active nests in the park alone.

Day three’s hidden gem for birding at is Northwest Beach!

With ample parking and washrooms available, Northwest Beach is a great location to start your exploration of the north end of the park. Hike north along the Centennial Trail towards Sanctuary lookout.

Once you reach Sanctuary, continue north through the dry forest area on the Seasonal Birding Footpath where it meets up with the Centennial Trail. You can loop back south to meet up with another Seasonal Birding Footpath that will lead you across the road to Blue Heron trail, where you can bird along the edge of the marsh.

From there, it is just a quick hop back across the road to Northwest Beach where you started. Head to the trail head to the right of the Marsh Store, follow it back across the road and take the trail north across the old sand dunes via a boardwalk bridge. You’ll emerge at the south end of Northwest Beach.

Lots of great warblers, including Kentucky Warbler have been heard singing from this area!

Ruby-throated Hummingbirds have reached Ontario!

On April 30, we received photos from Hamilton, Bath, and Waterloo, Ontario, following reports earlier in the week in Kingston and Pickering.

This year, when you see a hummingbird, whether it's your first sighting of the year or any sighting afterward, report it to Journey North!
