For immediate release:

June 1, 2023: Northern Bruce Peninsula, ON. (Bruce County) – Fire Chiefs across Bruce County have collectively declared a fire ban on all open-air burning, with the exception of campfires for cooking and warmth. This ban is in effect as of June 1, 2023 and will remain in effect until such time that it has been declared safe to lift.

The Fire Danger Rating in Bruce County is Extreme. Fire danger rating levels take into account current and antecedent weather, fuel types, and both live and dead fuel moisture. The fire danger rating expresses a variety of factors that could increase the threat of an open fire, such as ease of ignition, wind speed, precipitation levels and difficulty of control.

All open-air burning permits, agricultural burn permits, and fireworks permits are suspended. Although campfires are permitted for cooking and warmth only, all campfires must be supervised at all times and extinguished immediately upon completion of cooking and/or providing warmth.

“We are looking to mitigate the risk of forest fire and would like to thank our residents and visitors for adhering to this ban,” says Fire Chief Jack Burt.

Update June 1, 2021

The Ontario government, has released its plan to reopen. This plan is based on provincewide vaccination rate and health care indicators. Hopefully this new approach will allow small businesses to open and stay open. Step One of the reopening plan includes campsites and campgrounds. Ontario is to enter Step One the week of June 14, 2021. This timeline is tentative and could change. Our new opening date will be posted when known.

The plan for this season will be the same as last year to keep everyone safe and healthy. Our cabins will remain closed and we will be open to our seasonal contract holders only. Pool and playground are closed.

When we open we will need to continue to follow the precautions to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
- Keep to your own sites
- Keep 2 meters apart from others
- Wash your hands with soap and water
- Wear a mask if needed
- If you feel ill - Stay at home
It takes all of us to keep everyone healthy

Hello to all Lakeside Seasonal Campers,

Once again, I am sure everyone is wondering about the upcoming camping season. At this point our opening date is unclear. During the “Provincial Lockdown” and “Stay at Home” order campgrounds must remain closed. Only owners and maintenance workers are allowed on site. When we open, we will be following and adhering to the Grey Bruce Public Health recommendations for the season.

Jamie and I are watching and following the COVID-19 situation daily. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call, text or email. Stay safe and stay healthy.

Hello Bruce Peninsula Fans!
Many of our stores in the area are now requiring shoppers to wear a mask. Many are not bringing masks with them, when they drive up to visit us.
Understand, much of our community has seen 0 cases of COVID-19. Our community consists of quite a few older people, who are known to be more vulnerable. Many of our visitors come from areas that have seen cases. In some cases outbreaks.
When travelling to the area, please bring a mask with you, and wear it when in a public space such as a grocery store, liquor store or a gallery. Please respect the stores that require you to wear them.
If you have an issue wearing a mask - perhaps you do not agree with them, or they bother you, then please, stay outside the store and send someone inside for shopping.
We are opening up to visitors, and want to stay this way, for the sake of your health and ours:
PLEASE WEAR A MASK!
