✨🌌 LOOK UP TONIGHT FROM BUCHANAN BEACH! 🌌✨

One of the best things about staying at Seaside Cottages at Ginger Hill is having Buchanan Beach, our back beach, just steps away. 🌊➡️🌌

Tonight, the sky is putting on an incredible show! 🌟 Six planets are lining up in the night sky, creating a spectacular planetary alignment, and the Perseid meteor shower is also active overhead. 🪐🪐🪐🪐🪐🪐☄️

Imagine sitting on Buchanan Beach, gathered around a warm beach fire, making s’mores, listening to the waves roll in, and looking up as meteors streak across a sky filled with planets and stars. 🔥🍫🌠

☀️ What a great day at the Lockeport Crescent Beach Bash! 🌊

It was wonderful to see Crescent Beach buzzing with energy, laughter, and an estimated 400 people enjoying one of Nova Scotia's most beautiful beaches. From families soaking up the sun to kids playing in the surf, it was a fantastic day that showcased everything we love about summer in Lockeport.

A special congratulations and thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this community event such a success. 👏

🌊🏄 The Waves Were Calling at Crescent Beach Yesterday! 🏄🌊

Yesterday, a new group of surfers discovered what locals have known for years... Crescent Beach in Lockeport is one of Nova Scotia's hidden surfing gems.

From first-time riders catching their very first wave to experienced surfers sharing tips and encouragement in the lineup, it was another incredible day on the Atlantic. 🤙

📸 There's nothing quite like watching someone stand up for the first time. That smile says it all!

A big thank you to the Municipality of Shelburne Recreation & Parks Department and Jeff Norman from Rossignol Surf Shop for organizing and leading this fantastic Learn to Surf program. Events like this introduce more people to the incredible waves and natural beauty we have right here on the South Shore.

But the adventure doesn't end with summer...

🐣 Incredible News from Crescent Beach! Three More Piping Plover Babies Have Arrived! 🐣

What an unforgettable day for Crescent Beach in Lockeport!

Just a short time ago, we celebrated the first piping plover family of the season. Now, against what seemed like incredible odds, our second nesting pair has successfully hatched THREE beautiful chicks! ❤️

This second nest faced challenge after challenge. There was uncertainty about whether they would even nest, the parents were cautious while incubating, and a high tide left eelgrass piled right at the edge of their nest. Many wondered if these tiny birds could overcome it all.

But nature had other plans.

Today, three healthy little piping plover chicks are exploring the sand, making this the first time in recent memory that two separate piping plover families have successfully raised chicks on Crescent Beach in Lockeport during the same season! What an incredible milestone for one of Canada's most endangered shorebirds.

A huge thank you to Bonnie Nickerson for spotting the newborns and sharing the exciting news with all of us. 👏💛

Every chick is a victory for conservation and a reminder that when a community works together by respecting nesting areas, keeping dogs leashed, and giving these tiny birds the space they need, incredible things can happen.

If you'd like to learn more about these amazing little birds, the Lockeport Beach Centre is hosting a FREE Piping Plover & Prints Workshop this Friday at 12:00 noon, presented by Birds Canada. It's a wonderful opportunity to discover more about the species, their conservation, and why Crescent Beach is such an important nesting habitat.

What an absolutely incredible turnout for today's festivities! The community spirit was shining bright, and it was wonderful to see so many smiling faces lining the streets.
