🌿 Forty years ago, volunteers built this house. It's time to give it another forty.

Forty years ago, a group of volunteers came up this mountain with a sawmill and built the Upper House by hand.

One of them was Greg Wellman. He was nineteen or twenty-one, and he put up the fascia boards that gave the house its Bavarian look. He's retired now. This week we took those boards down.

The house is tired. The roof had become a home for birds and bees. The covered entrance out back was pulling itself apart. We've been replacing siding, soffits, and fascia — and every project has uncovered two more underneath it.

We've begun the work. We're asking for help to finish it.

Here's why it matters. When a guest arrives here, their life is usually packed with things they can't put down. And then they stand at the edge of the property and look out down the valley — and something gets quiet enough that a still, small voice can finally reach them.

That's what this house is for. That's what it's been for since 1985.
