⚠ TEMPORARY TRAIL CLOSURE: SKYLINE TRAIL ⚠

The Skyline Trail will be temporarily closed to all visitors beginning May 19 to May 22, 2026, to allow for important construction and maintenance work.

After a busy visitor season and a long winter, this beloved trail—the busiest in Cape Breton Highlands National Park—needs a little love.

Parks Canada crews will be on-site to:
🔧Upgrade the on-site kiosk
🚧 Install new gates
🛠 Improve trail conditions for safety and sustainability

While we care for the trail, we ask that visitors:
✅ Plan ahead and explore one of the park’s many other stunning trails
✅ Respect all trail closures for your safety and the safety of our crews
✅ Practice good trail etiquette—stay on marked paths, carry out all litter, and give wildlife plenty of space.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to protect this iconic part of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. We'll share updates on reopening as soon as it's safe to welcome you back.

7:00pm • Meet and Greet in the Rec Hall with 55th Anniversary cake.

Friday, August 29

7:00am • Golf Tournament at Baddeck Forks Golf Course, weather permitting (Register at The Store). Best Ball - Texas Scramble.

12-5pm • STAND & STUFF YOUR FACE food truck will be on site.

6:00pm • Retro Arcade Games and Cotton Candy.

8:00pm • Adult Trivia in the Rec Hall.

Saturday, August 30

9-11:00am • Pancake and Ham Breakfast in the Rec Hall hosted by the Lake Ainslie Weavers & Craft Guild.

11:00am • Duck Race in the pool. Sponsored by Reaching Strides Show Team. $10 per duck. $250, $150, and $100 prizes.

11:00am-1:00pm • Kids Carnival Games.

1:00pm • 11th Annual Gary Wilkinson Horseshoe Tournament.

3:00pm • Merchandise Bingo in the Rec Hall.

9:00pm-Late • Dance in the Rec Hall. Music by DJ Sandy.

Sunday, August 31

11:00am-3:00pm • 18th Annual Show ‘n Shine. Cars, Trucks, Vans, & Bikes. Live entertainment on site.

12:00-3:00pm • Flea Market/Craft Sale in the Rec Hall.

12:00-4:00pm • BeaverTails Mobile Cape Breton Island will be on site.

5:30pm • Supper in the Rec Hall, catered by Charlene. Sign up at the store.

8:00pm • Music in the Rec Hall with Ronelda and Friends.
