While enjoying the sunrise this morning, saw the weirdest thing ever...then started to imagine what the conversation in the airplane cockpit might have been like...similar to one's Bruce and I have had on some road trips :)

Me: Take a left here...
Bruce: Are you sure?
Me: Yes, I am sure. Wait....take a right!
Bruce: Are you sure?
Me: Yes, I am sure. Wait a minute....
Bruce: I thought you said you knew where we were going. And now the guys following us are lost too.
Me: Hey Google....

Throwback Thursday! So the question of the day: what year is this VW Beetle? That's Long Island behind it, with the water frozen thick enough to access the park by driving across the lake. Not my thing, that's for sure!

What a difference one week makes ! Quite the contrast looking out at the lake this morning.

Throwback Thursday! Otto and his brother Eddy worked together to get a roof over our heads so the family could come in and we could all work. This is a picture of the cabin on Centre Island ... along with a sense of humor they shared.

What a fabulous May long weekend! I overheard the following dialogue between a Mom and her daughter...
Daughter: Mom, do we really have to go home tomorrow?
Mom: Yes, we do.
Daughter: But REALLY?? Why can't we just stay here at the Park.
Mom: We have to go home because you have school and I have work.
Daughter: But why can't we just go to school here, and you get a job here, and then we can stay?
Mom: It's not quite that simple...
Daughter: Ugh. (crosses arms in disgust) Ugh. I just wanna live HERE! I don't want to go home :(

This makes my heart happy to hear...Bayview is such a special place for everyone!

Throwback Thursday! Another picture from the archives - a rare moment captures Otto & Pauline both relaxing while sharing a moment with our amazing friends from Ohio: Ron & Georgia Smith. The 'Smith Clan' - and there were many of them! - would come to Bayview every June and camp in tents, tent trailers in the middle of Centre Island where we had transient sites. It became an annual reunion that both the Smith's and Lingertat's looked forward to every year; sadly, that generation has now passed. Mom used to clean up the common areas by hand - rake, pitchfork, 4-wheeler and utility trailer in tow. Very hard manual labour that she accomplished with dedication every Spring. My eyes almost popped out of my head when I realized it was my Dad lying on the grass...can't say I ever remember seeing that before (and not sure who took the picture)! Great memories!
