Advance Notice – Sangan River Bridge Rehabilitation
and Temporary Traffic Restrictions
O'Brien Road & Bridge Maintenance Ltd. will be undertaking rehabilitation work on the Sangan River Bridge located on Tow Hill Road, approximately 11 kilometres east of Masset, British Columbia.
Construction activities are scheduled between July 16 and July 24, 2026, generally between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
During general construction activities, traffic will be maintained using Single-Lane Alternating Traffic (SLAT). Motorists should expect intermittent delays of up to 20 minutes.
Bridge lifting and bearing replacement operations require scheduled full bridge closures between July 20 and July 23, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM daily, however, every reasonable effort will be made to complete each day's work and reopen the bridge to traffic as soon as it can be safely reopened.
Tow Hill Road provides the only vehicle access to the communities, residences, businesses, and recreational destinations north of the bridge. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel outside the scheduled closure periods where practical.
Emergency vehicle access will be accommodated during the extended closures. Emergency service agencies are requested to contact O’Brien Road & Bridge Maintenance Ltd. at 250-557-4282 or communicate directly with the Traffic Control Persons (TCPs) on Highway Channel 4 as they approach the work site. Crews will ensure timely adjustments to the site to permit crossings as quickly as possible.
Current traffic information and project updates will be available through DriveBC. Should significant changes to the construction schedule occur, updated stakeholder notifications will be distributed.
We apologize for the short notice and recognize that these closures may cause some inconvenience. We thank you in advance for your patience, cooperation, and understanding as we complete this necessary work.
